    The Role

    Director Field Operations reports to the Vice President of Operations. This role is responsible for leading a high-performance operations team focused on delivering exceptional service delivery in the metro area.     The Main Responsibilities

    • Directs, plans, and manages all facets of a field operations, in multiple tier 1, 2 or 3 cities, in accordance with the Field Operations overall mission and mandate. Guides the specific Field operational strategic planning.
    • Responsible for all Network assets in all cable landing stations, running line sites, city gateways, and building points of presence. Oversees the operations of the city gateways, submarine landing stations, in-line amplifier sites, signal regeneration sites and terminal sites.
    • Lead an organization up to 500 employees engaged in field service and central office work supporting all services and products delivered in market.
    • Direct investments with discipline and a network-first focus by enabling fast, reliable broadband connectivity and leveraging services and partnerships that differentiate the company in the market.
    • Oversees the budgeting process and maintains budget adherence. Accountable for all aspects of Division’s field operations budget management. Responsible for all Operational expense management for the Divisional field operations organization. Responsible for the all the Capital management for Divisional field operations-initiated projects. Ensures that the overall budget is managed and allocated (spent) in accordance with the overall mission and mandate
    • Plans and promotes operational efficiencies in the area, evaluating and promoting opportunities for network and asset integrations and growth with the appropriate Sales and Planning groups. Services as a liaison between Field Operations and other Lumen organizations. Promotes conversations with all Lumen partners.
    • Evolve the workforce by continuously enabling a team that is ready to serve the digital world and implement initiatives that retain people in the right roles and foster high performance and employee engagement while improving productivity.
    • Responsible for strategic long-term goals.
    • Manages all facets of the Divisional Operations team for Submarine (if applicable), Inter-City, and Metro Field Services Organization.
    • Make final decisions on administrative or operations matters and ensures effective achievement of objectives.
    • Build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships across the company and with union leadership.

    • Bachelor’s degree equivalent education and experience.
    • 8-10 years of progressively expanding responsibilities and experience in telecommunications, networking, technology management or data center operations.
    • Demonstrated mastery/expertise and performance within the areas of field operations, Ethernet service delivery, high speed internet and voice installation and repair with special/designed services delivery and cable and fiber maintenance.
    • Expense budget management.
    • Experience with process improvement demonstrated by year-over-year metric improvement.
    • Demonstrated experience working with the union to foster a relationship characterized by mutual responsibility for efficiency, high service quality and exceptional customer experience.
    • Demonstrated highly effective interpersonal skills and ability to work in a consultative manner with others.
    • Demonstrated experience in crisis management.
    • Demonstrated mastery of written and verbal communications. Will review written examples with resume submission.
    • PC and software skills with Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Detailed knowledge in the areas of network planning, engineering and construction, central office equipment and processes, fiber network and ring topology.
    • Excellent financial and data analysis skills with the ability to articulate via Power Point and through oral communication.
    • A valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience in telecommunications engineering and/or operations including circuit connectivity to 400Gbps and associated transport/delivery equipment, Voice over IP Protocol, Content Delivery Networks, Data Center/Gateway/Central Office operations.
    • Working knowledge of statistical analysis techniques and tools.
