    The Role

    As a Market Development Manager, you will direct, coordinate, and own the sales activities in a specific market, ensuring your market meets or exceeds sales, penetration and revenue objectives. This market encompasses both the Portland and Vancouver areas and will require regional travel. 

    The Main Responsibilities

    • Develop playbooks that detail the ownership, timelines, success metrics and execution handoffs that maximize revenue and penetration in both new build and existing assets in targeted geographies
    • Direct activities of existing national and local sales partners, including sales to the door
    • Develop new relationships with local community and partner sales organizations
    • Develop and drive internal sales initiatives, including employee referrals 
    • Promote customer-to-customer referral programs
    • Drive growth across all brownfield and greenfield SFU neighborhoods, as well as small Multi-Dwelling Units (MDUs)
    • Develop sales programs and partnerships with local HOAs, leasing agents and developers 
    • Establish local distribution partnerships (Utilities, Home Electronic Installers, etc)
    • Identify new tactics to address underpenetrated assets
    • Coordinate the overall sales performance and customer retention efforts across all CenturyLink departments, our partners and external entities.
    • Work in partnership with all consumer sales channels, including contact center, field sales and digital team to develop and implement local tactics, as well as provide feedback on comprehensive sales programs.
    • Manage a local expense budget for local sales
    • Leverage corporate sales and retention tools and adapt to the local market.
    • Conduct regular calls to update progress, log issues and identify gaps.
    • Distribute regular communications on results, business case metrics and other insights.
    • Manage customer communications.
    • Interact with local leaders and represent the company as a “brand ambassador” across the community.

    What We Look For in a Candidate

    • 3+ years of experience with Bachelor's Degree or 6+ years experience.
    • Experience in Marketing, Communications, Customer Public Relations or the equivalent.
    • Experience across all consumer-oriented channels
    • Thorough understanding of residential broadband, voice and video service solutions, with specific knowledge of the fiber broadband service.
    • Experience developing and leading acquisition and retention efforts and identifying target customers.
    • Demonstrated professionalism and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Highly collaborative personality with an ability to work cross-functionally and a desire to find win-win solutions
    • Extensive experience with sales tracking and measurement tools, such as SalesForce, as well as project management tools and methodologies.
    • Ability to identify trends, assess knowledge gaps and communicate recommendations for improvement to a leadership audience
    • Creating and delivering consulting-level project plans and presentations
    • Action-oriented and creative thinker who can focus on detailed implementation and execution
    • Outstanding organization and time management skills; a proven ability to manage multiple initiatives independently in a dynamic environment
    • Ability to effectively operate within diverse and cross-functional groups
    • Ability to travel when needed – regional travel, 50%+
    • Valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record (MVR check may be required)
    • Ability to travel - regional travel ~1 day a week.  Primarily local travel within Portland and Vancouver metro area but also covers all of Oregon

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in the telecommunications field
    • Experience with distribution channels – including direct and indirect Retail, MDU, Door to Door, and Big Box Retailers

    This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

    This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
