    The Role

    Senior tax manager to lead North America income tax audit defense and appeals.

    The Main Responsibilities

    • Manage North America income tax audit defenses, audit strategy, including researching technical issues and assisting with maintaining compliance with state and local tax laws.
    • Act as primary point of contact to North American income tax auditors (Canada federal and provincial, IRS, and state and local) and internal stakeholders for all tax audit-related matters.
    • Negotiate audit plan, methodology, and scope with income tax auditors.
    • Responsible for drafting responses to the tax authority Information Document Requests (IDRs), which includes gathering information from other groups within Company.
    • Assess audit risk when dealing with the auditors and develop negotiation strategies in resolving audit risks.
    • Perform research on U.S. federal, state, and international tax issues
    • Liaise with the Company’s income tax compliance and provision, transfer pricing, and tax planning teams to ensure all aspects of the Company’s tax audits are properly managed, and to provide regular updates regarding audit status.
    • Manage outside tax advisors and tax counsel
    • Identify, quantify, and document uncertain tax positions
    • Draft and file protests and appeals of proposed assessments or final audit results.
    • Other duties as needed.​​​​​​​

    What We Look For in a Candidate

    Required

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field or the equivalent in training and experience
    • Strong technical working knowledge of US federal corporate income taxation.  
    • Experience with consolidated returns, accounting methods, and international tax a plus. 
    • Minimum 7 years federal income tax experience or the equivalent in training and education (e.g., C.P.A., J.D. or Masters in Tax).
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to successfully communicate tax positions to tax authorities and status of tax audits to Tax department
    • Organizational and analytical skills
    • Ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and tasks 

    Preferred

    • CPA, Master’s Degree in Taxation, or JD
    • Familiarity with the IRS audit process and procedures.
    • Proficiency in CorpTax, SAP, OneStream
    • Computer related skills (i.e. Excel, Alteryx, Tableau, etc.)
