    Position summary

    As an Analyst/Associate within the Macquarie Principal Finance team, your primary focus is to identify, analyze, and execute private credit and private equity investment opportunities. This is a buy-side role with opportunity to evaluate both primary deals and secondary trading opportunities, and work across a range of industry subsegments in a career-track position.

    Macquarie Principal Finance invests in private equity & private credit opportunities and has invested $US56 billion globally across 900+ deals since 2008. The team has a flexible mandate, using balance sheet capital which allows it to invest across the capital structure; transaction types range from senior and junior credit (sponsor & non-sponsored unitranche loans, first and second lien facilities, etc.) to structured capital (mezzanine debt, HoldCo PIK notes, preferred equity) to equity (majority control & minority private equity investments). Each member of the team is an industry generalist and invests across a wide range of sectors (includes TMT, healthcare, business services, education, financial services / insurance brokerage, gaming and leisure, asset-based business models, etc.). The team is based in New York City, with smaller offices in Chicago and San Francisco.

    As an Analyst/Associate within the team, your primary focus is to identify, analyze, and execute on attractive risk/return investment opportunities together with other team members. Specific responsibilities will include:

    • Analyzing and executing on investment opportunities with a focus on evaluating risk/return for each investment and proving or disproving potential investment thesis
    • Leading diligence conversations and efforts with counterparties and experts, as well as presenting in meetings including investment committee discussions and analysis
    • Finding differentiated data sourcing and analysis – the team is highly data-driven and relies heavily upon the analyst/associate team to both find useful datasets / critically analyze them to answer diligence questions
    • Involvement in drafting of term sheets and legal documentation
    • Compiling investment committee memos / presentations, creating financial models, and otherwise contributing to transaction analysis
    • Career-track position where eventually, team members can grow into generating deal flow directly from third party relationships

    Principal Finance is a team with significant growth runway, providing candidates the opportunity to work in a flat environment that encourages team members to expand their role and responsibility. Overall, the Principal Finance team has invested ~$56bn in capital since 2008 globally (major offices in Sydney, London, and New York), and is comprised of ~70 investment professionals globally and ~30 in the U.S. An ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of experience in full-service capital markets advisory, management consulting, and/or investing, with extensive exposure to business analysis / research and experience in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

    Salary Range

    Salary range for this position: $110,000 - $225,000/Yr. Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, peer and market data, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. The successful candidate may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive compensation award.
