Position summary

Macquarie Group (Macquarie) is looking for an Application Support DevOps Analyst with a strong IT Application Support background to support critical applications for our Risk Management business. You will own and resolve issues escalated from clients while providing ongoing support and configuration maintenance for the Risk Management applications. The chosen candidate will be someone who has expressed interest in further increasing their development experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Responding to customers in the EMEA and Americas regions and providing clear communications and proper documentation of their requests, while in pursuit of a positive outcome
  • Acting as a regional point of contact in a DevOps model, taking ownership of operational issues and perform short-term resolution, and escalating/developing preventive measures for long term solutions
  • Proactively monitoring system health and responding to alerts – ensuring the stability and availability of the production environments
  • Using the “Follow the Sun” application support model, work with peers in other geographical offices to provide handover
  • Working closely with the regional and global technology teams, escalating issues/requests to them as required
  • Identifying process improvement areas through automation/process change. Ensuring support documentation is accurate and maintained
  • Following an agile methodology to complete development work for new features and process improvement initiatives
  • Being available for weekend work as needed

Skill Requirements:

  • Strong customer management and client communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with limited local management and across long distance teams
  • Sound judgement and evaluation skills
  • Relationship and stakeholder management with regional and head office staff
  • Understanding of application systems support
  • Experience in SQL and relational databases (preferably Sybase / MS SQL)
  • Experience in UNIX or Linux
  • Experience in one or more of the following technologies will be highly regarded
    • Remedy or a similar ticket handling system
    • Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket
    • AWS
    • Bitbucket, Control-M, Application Servers (Tomcat, JBoss)
    • Splunk, AppDynamics, or a similar monitoring tool
    • ITIL Service Management Practices

Ideally you will have:

  • A degree qualification or equivalent in a relevant computer science
  • Prior exposure to delivering enterprise level business wide support services
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with accurate decision-making abilities

The ability to pick up new concepts quickly
