Position summary

Join Macquarie Asset Management as a Vice President on our Consultant Relations and Public Market Sales Team. This individual will work closely with the three Senior Consultant Relationship Manager’s (CR) and one analyst covering North America and provides the opportunity to build your network in the institutional consultant community. This is a hybrid internal support / external-facing role.

Daily, you’ll support the team of Senior CR Managers in their dealings with research analysts, field consultants, and plan sponsors. It will be your duty to track and vet RFP’s, CRM activity/notes, mailing lists, Institutional Newsletters, special projects, and some (various) administrative tasks. You will also work closely with each senior partner on a business plan to maximize research analyst and field consultant penetration, and plan sponsor outreach within each territory.

Additionally, you will serve as the primary relationship manager for a group of tier 2/3 consulting firms (and potentially a secondary relationship manager for a group of tier 1 consulting firms). You will respond to all requests, book and run meetings, pursue and maintain ratings, and grow exposure. Direct prospecting to small and mid-market institutional plans is also expected.

Finally, it will be important that you build relationships with internal client service teams, portfolio managers, product, marketing, and RFP teams, etc. within Macquarie, and work as a member of a team.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the team in handling consultant requests
  • Helping to coordinate PM/PM proxy travel across distribution to maximize investment team members’ time
  • Working with the team to coordinate formal roadshows
  • Keep group documents including Roadmap, search/finals/wins tracking sheet, territory map and other working documents
  • Working with marketing to improve materials based on feedback from CR team and based on own experiences
  • Working with internal CRM experts at continuing to enhance CRM (Salesforce) database based on team recommendations
  • Working on special projects including exploring new markets, competitive analysis, market research and database searches.
  • Managing a group of tier 2/3 consulting firm relationships
  • Pursing and maintaining consultant strategy ratings
  • Traveling to consultant meetings with and without portfolio managers
  • Traveling to conferences and networking events
  • Coordinating conference calls and due diligence visits with prospects/consultants and appropriate product specialist or portfolio managers to discuss Macquarie strategies
  • Prospecting a group of institutional investors (pension plans, endowment, and foundations, etc.)
  • Ongoing research and focus surrounding the CR teams strategic initiatives. Understand regulations that may affect initiatives, tracking news/press releases related to specific consultants, etc.
  • Ensuring compliance with internal and external rules, policies and procedures as well as regulatory requirements

 An ideal candidate will have:

  • Five years’ experience with institutional investment consultants
  • Basic knowledge of financial marketplace and investment management
  • Experience with the sales of financial products
  • Strong presentation, communication, and organization skills
  • A team-oriented attitude coupled with the ability to effectively manage time
  • High motivation and great initiative

 Additionally, you will have:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Series 7 and 63 (required within 6 months of hire)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel (required)
