Summary : The Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory (MCWL), Experiment Division (Ex Div) is seeking an Infantry Subject Matter Expert (SME) to provide professional contractor support to assist in the planning and execution of the Marine Corps' Force Design 2030 (FD2030) effort. Experiment Division plans, executes, and analyzes the results of concept-based live force experiments in order to inform the Deputy Commandant, Combat Development & Integration, requirements process, and the efforts of other organizations to advance Marine Corps capabilities. Results include assessments of emerging concepts, development of new and innovative tactics, and recommended enhancements to current and future organizational structures and training. As such, Ex Div requires personnel with significant knowledge and experience within the operational force. Personnel will interact directly with senior leaders and planners at the Battalion/Squadron level and higher. Applicants must have a broad understanding of tactics, techniques, and procedures in their area of expertise and demonstrate sufficient experience serving as an action officer at an equivalent level. This position will be assigned to support the Experiment Teams within the Current Operations (COPS) of Experiment Division.

Responsibilities :

  • Work with all Ex Div branches to provide expertise on the theory, utilization, capabilities, and operations of the infantry and related equipment

  • Work closely with the Experiment Teams and participate in all aspects of the experiment effort to include any M&S, studies, wargames, or other activities associated with the experiment

  • Be prepared to deploy with those teams to CONUS and OCONUS locations to participate in the data collection and analysis efforts

  • Conduct detailed analysis of data collected during the experiments, produce professional written correspondence through experiment reports, and be able to develop and deliver experiment report briefs at the O-6 and General Officer levels

  • Travel as required to support all planning, coordination, and experimentation events as required; travel up to 25%.

Minimum Requirements :

  • US Citizen

  • Secret clearance

  • BA/BS degree from a four-year university or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • At least 7 years of infantry experience, preferably in the USMC

  • SME in fires, to include infantry organic mortars, artillery employment, and general fire support team's Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

  • Resident knowledge gained from company-grade, field-grade, or senior enlisted Professional Military Education programs

  • Familiar with Marine Corps infantry organizations, structures, methodologies, training and tactics, techniques and procedures at the Rifle Company-level and above.

  • Proven ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) is critical, as is the ability to professionally prepare and present analytical documents for senior military and defense officials

  • Strong computer skills including demonstrated fluency in all Microsoft programs, to include Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Outstanding initiative, organizational skills, team-oriented mindset and ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, diverse, and virtual team environment

Strongly Desired:

  • TS/SCI clearance

  • 10+ years of infantry experience within the United States Marine Corps

  • Graduate of Expeditionary Warfare School, Command and Staff, or service level equivalent

  • Experience with loitering munitions and emerging concepts for digital employment of fires and maneuver

  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of the Marine Corps, its missions, force structure, existing doctrine, and emerging Marine Corps Warfighting Concepts

  • Demonstrated experience working in a dynamic, high-stress, tactical/operational environment
