Under the supervision of Senior network engineers, this individual install, configures and supports the organizations local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN). Monitors the network to ensure network availability to all system users and may perform necessary maintenance to support network availability. Monitor, update and test remote sites functionality.
The candidate will be part of a Network Engineering team for our Federal customer and will provide Network administration for a large Cisco enterprise environment, which consists of classified, and top-secret networks. The team ensures the availability of a reliable/robust network transport infrastructure that provides data protection for information delivered across strategic, operational and tactical boundaries.
Responsibilities:
Configures, Installs, supports and/or maintains LANs and/or WANs; evaluates and recommends networking product and software upgrades.
Configuring CISCO NXOS/IOS at both switch and router
Performs technical analyses of software, hardware and transmission facilities using various diagnostic tools in support of efficient network operations.
Monitors data traffic and controls network resource performance to ensure high-quality transmission.
Identifies, diagnoses and resolves technical problems related to network failure/integrity.
Monitor and report LAN bandwidth utilization and circuit latency.
Proactive monitoring and reporting of all network devices, services, overall health of the network using a combination of tools to ensure high availability and SLA's
Willingness and ability to learn new skills and apply them as needed.
Ability to effectively communicate issues and resolutions to all levels of the organization
Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive customer and internal information.
Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences
Assist the Help Desk in network troubleshooting and act as the primary support for all network related issues
Strong desire to discover the root cause of complex problems and communicate them effectively across IT disciplines and Management
Good work ethic and active desire to learn.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work both independently and within a team.
Required Qualifications:
3 or more years' experience in Network Administration
Strong knowledge of networking: TCP/IP, VLANS, Ethernet, switching, routing and routing protocols (BGP/OSPF), 802.1Q, and DNS, SNMP, TACACS, Access Control list
Knowledge of Type 1 encryptors, TACLANES used to provide isolation and added security for the network transport and enterprise services
Experience working directly with Government customer • Technical writing and documentation/diagram skills (MS Visio/MS Word/MS Excel)
Performs rack-mounting and de-installing communications equipment and associated cabling
Required Clearance:
Must hold an active Top Secret Clearance to be considered.
