Systems Engineer: Gerald R. Ford Class Aircraft Carrier Ship Systems Program Technical Support 1333 Isaac Hull Ave SE Washington, DC 20376 Responsibilities: - Provide technical and program support to the PMS 378 Ship Systems Team as directed in support of Ford Class Aircraft Carrier Ship Systems Development and Technical Issue Resolution. - Liaison with other PEO and program office stakeholders, PARMs, NAVSEA05, TWH's, and Engineering Agents in support of Ford Class Ship Systems Technical Issue Resolution efforts - Facilitate and/or participate in the successful execution of ship system risk mitigation and/or corrective action efforts. - Develop innovative and effective ways to measure and analyze the project progress; as well as cost and schedule impacts on Ship operations within areas of responsibility. - Participate with government certification agencies including but not limited to NSWCPD, NAVSEA, NAVAIR, TYCOM, and SPAWAR to capture requirements for certifications on Ford Class Aircraft Carrier Ship Systems. - Coordinate with PMS312/NAVSEA05/SUPSHIP and NNS on all aspects of Delivery Management including test and certification for Ship System/Technical Issues assignments on Ford Class Carriers. - Facilitate and/or participate in working and management level meetings, Ship checks, and other similar activities to support Ship System Tech resolution efforts as required by PMS 378 - Provide support in review and processing of Carrier Engineering Team Actions (CETAs), Ship Change Documents (SCDs), NAVSEA05V Technical Recommendation Letters to PMS378 and other Ship Systems related documents. - Develop Program Office letters to approve and/or provide response to NAVSEA05V Technical Recommendation Letters on behalf of PMS378. - Work closely with NAVSEA05V Carrier Engineering Team counterparts to provide programmatic support and insight during the engineering planning, design, development, installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting processes of Ford Class Ship Systems. - Assist with initiatives aimed at identifying, tracking, and eliminating Ship System technical issues and corrective actions and ascertain all impacts to ship operations, cost, and schedule as required. - Coordinate with all Ford Class Carrier stakeholders as needed to conduct required research and develop best practices and lesson learned to support Lifecycle Configuration Management planning for Ship Systems development and maintenance.
Minimum Requirements: - BS in an Engineering Discipline or Naval Architecture - Five + years' experience with US Navy, US Coast Guard, or Military Sealift Command ships or ship systems - Active Secret Clearance and U.S. Citizenship Desired: - Mechanical Engineer degree - 3 years' experience managing technical projects - Reliability Engineering/System Engineering experience Qualifications: - Demonstrates technical proficiency and independent thought. Self-starter and takes the initiative. - Experience working on complex problems in which analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. - Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. - Demonstrated ability to work through ambiguity to develop detailed project solutions and processes. Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills. - Ability to support programs involving interaction with a variety of organizations, laboratories, field activities and contractors in the areas engineering project management. - Strong critical thinking capabilities to solve problems as they arise and finely-tuned communication skills to ensure teammates and stakeholders remain informed, engaged, and on task. - Experience with the development and tracking of plan of action and milestones (POA&M) for engineering projects that comply with internal/external customer demands for reliable processes/equipment to mitigate or resolve failures. - Demonstrated ability to consider impact of costs and schedule on recommended tech resolution/corrective action plans during the design phase or remedial action for correcting reliability problems on mechanical/electrical/ship systems. - Ability to effectively communication, coordinate, and build working relationships with both technical teams and business program office stakeholders. - Experience in providing effective written and oral communication with multiple levels of leadership involving both business and technical. - Possesses broad understanding of technical principals and theories. Ability to synthesize external data and research findings for application that may impact program objectives. One must have good written communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, analytical, mathematical, and organizational skills. Ability to work independently as well as a part of a team and take initiative is a must. An active Secret Clearance and U.S. Citizenship is required.
