Description:
Systems Engineer position supporting the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) on the Navy's Aegis program in Dahlgren, Va. Supports the research and documentation of capabilities and limitations of the Aegis Weapon System. Reviews computer limitations, attends Change Review Boards to evaluate, to assess impacts of computer limitations on the system, ship's crew, and ship's operations. Works with Aegis engineers and fleet representatives to determine impact and work-around to fleet operators and CIC operations. CPDD team supports crew briefs aboard ships stationed around the world and therefore the candidate must be capable of supporting some travel. Travel activities make up 10-20% of work activities, but we are flexible and strive in working with individuals and their schedules.
Specifically, the position involves performance of the following tasks:
Required
10+ years Maintenance/Operations experience on the Navy's AEGIS Combat System
Qualification at AEGIS CIC Watchstation(s)
Strong Verbal and Written Communications Skills
Ability to make presentations to a large audience, which may include high-ranking officers
Ability to assertively represent the customer's interests in Change Review/Safety Boards and other program level meetings
Ability to work independently and to successfully multi-task between numerous concurrent tasks
Must understand CIC operations and to articulate system capabilities and limitations based on fleet operations, system performance based current tactics in expected environments and against various threats.
Provide written and verbal technical evaluations of capabilities and limitations
Develop and deliver presentations which includes and public speaking
Must be able to work independently with minimal oversite.
Must be able to work in dynamic, fast paced environment
Attend various review and status meetings
Travel is required in the continental United States and ports located outside of CONUS
Must be fluent in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point, & Adobe Acrobat
Standard business work hours - with the exception of travel related tasking

20+ years senior enlisted USN technical experience
Technical Instructor Experience
Strong Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Excel/Word Programs
Level of experience/Education:
United States citizen and an active secret clearance
Minimum of 10 years Maintenance/Operations experience on the Navy's AEGIS Combat System
T&E Engineer or Aegis Systems Trainer
Knowledge of Aegis Systems, Navy operations
