    The Communications Director will be a key driving force in ensuring that our story remains relevant, contemporary and differentiated and that our stakeholders internally and externally are informed of and conversant with it. The position reports into the Senior Vice President, APAC Communications and is based in Singapore.

    Role

    The key functions of the role include but are not limited to the following responsibilities:
    • Plan and develop a strategic communications framework at an AP level, for a variety of internal and external audiences, including employees, senior customers, shareholders, public audiences and consumers. Ensure that the framework is culturally relevant for as diverse a region as AP
    • Develop a go-to-market communications plan for various business units so that members of senior management are speaking with one voice on key topics and being positioned as thought and industry leaders. The plan needs be an integrated 360 plan encompassing the full spectrum of traditional and digital channels, including influencer engagement
    • Partner with colleagues in other regions and at the global level to develop company-wide communications that drive culture change; underscore corporate strategy and vision; highlight corporate and business unit results
    • Coordinate corporate communications programs that convey the value that Mastercard delivers to various stakeholders
    • Manage crises and issues both reactively and proactively depending on the nature and background of the situation, including working with the Public Policy team to address regulatory positioning in key Asian markets
    • Oversee the management of creative agencies, writers, consultants and vendors. The role holder will work closely with the regional agency to manage the communication and approval process for press releases and other organizational announcements
    • Execute a range of campaigns embedding marketing assets/content as differentiator at a regional level, usually leveraging our large sponsorship assets
    • Engage the startup community through programs such as Start Path, Launch Pad and Hackathons as a way of establishing how Mastercard is not just a payments company, but a technology disruptor and driver
    • Drive employee engagement to ensure employees should understand our future direction and their role in it. Ensure that senior management is well positioned within and across the employee base
    • Support the HR team in actively positioning us as a Great Place to work both internally and externally

    All About You

    The Communications Director is someone who embodies the following characteristics:
    • Minimum of 15 years of related experience
    • A strategic thinker. Will work with senior management and HR to convert management imperatives into externa and internal narratives
    • A creative executor and highly capable program manager. Be able, not only to strategize, but also to efficiently and effectively program manage across multiple, concurrent campaigns
    • Strong communicator and writer. Be able to express complexity in an easy to understand, relatable and motivating manner. Turn our company story into an interesting narrative and our product profiles into easy to communicate messaging. You must have exceptional writing and editing skills with a commitment to the highest quality standards
    • Highly energetic and partnership oriented. This role will have a lot of internal visibility particularly with, senior management, HR, marketing and internal product and account management teams. Being a strong collaborator and people person is a prerequisite
    • Active integrator. With communications being the 'synovial fluid' for the company, this is a role that requires candidates to be inherently capable of driving integration and alignment, oftentimes under high pressure circumstances. Candidates must be strong team players with a proven ability to build relationships across business units and functional areas
