You will help our clients grow their business by identifying and executing on joint opportunities, deliver first class solutions and services together with our colleagues and client teams.
Role
In this important client-facing position, you will:
• Partner with acquiring banks, merchants, payment service providers and payment facilitators to identify new business growth opportunities, solve problems and deliver solutions.
• Develop card acceptance in Austria, with a particular focus on:
oIncrease acceptance at the physical point of sale as well as e-commerce, for merchants active in the Austrian market
oDevelop merchant partnerships to stimulate card usage and Mastercard brand preference of consumers
oDrive adoption of further Mastercard products and services within the acquirer and merchant space, such as Purchase with cash back, Money send or Click to pay
• Lead all business development activities in the Retail & Commerce segment, which includes all kind of merchants active in Austria
• Own the relationship to prioritized Retail & Commerce clients as well as acquiring banks in Austria and define the sales strategy to drive user paid sales to this segment
• Expand Mastercard client network beyond the traditional cards business and build new relationships
• Acts as a project manager and key end-to-end resource lead on small to mid-sized projects
• Hold budget accountability for sales targets in the Retail & Commerce segment, as set in country targets and manage revenue achievement in close coordination with other Mastercard teams
• Build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Develop and maintain strong relationships between external stakeholders (merchants and their service providers such as acquiring banks, payment technology enablers) and cross-functional internal teams (in-market and central) to deliver on all objectives
• Navigate through the organization and coordinate efforts of Mastercard teams and business lines to create value for Mastercard's customers such as but not limited to new POS and eCommerce acceptance, acceptance quality, cashless projects, purchase with cash back, card usage marketing programs.
• Influences Customer account strategies using analytical problem solving and leveraging data tools to provide market data and customer specific recommendations
• Participates in business conversations with key decision makers internally and externally to drive sales and business development opportunities for Mastercard's Services and solutions, such as payment solutions, cybersecurity offerings and data analytics capabilities
Experiences
The ideal candidate for this position should:
• Possess previous Sales or Relationship Management experience
• Has experience in a fast-paced, technology-centric environment, including payments, e-commerce, retail, financial services, and/or consulting
• Ideally brings a good understanding of the banking and payment industry
• Communicates easily with client representatives across various business areas, in particular in the Retail & Commerce space
• Demonstrates good influential skills, both externally as well as internally
• Is an excellent problem solver and "dots connector" and can-do attitude
• Conducts negotiations with clients and mobilize relevant internal resources
• Demonstrates entrepreneurial mindset and thoughtful risk-taking approach
• Thinks strategic and has the ability to understand and execute on key operational aspects, and attention to detail
• Is creative, constructive and proactive
• And yes, a Master's degree or equivalent
• Is fluent in German and English
