Overview
Service Operations Tools (SOT) program is a part of Business Operations (BizOps) group within Mastercard, which is leading the DevOps transformation at Mastercard through our tooling and by being an advocate for change & standards throughout the development, quality, release, and product organizations. The team's mission is to obsess on the needs of Business operations group to automate operational activities, reduce manual toil and tie everything together through custom applications. Engineers working in this team are experts in software development and DevOps toolchain to build and continually enhance DevOps experience and productivity at Mastercard. Our program follows an iterative approach to development with teams located globally.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. As a Principal Software Engineer, you will play a critical role in leading the design, development, and implementation of our software solutions. You will have the opportunity to work on complex and innovative projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive technical excellence and deliver high-quality, proactively adding scalability while continuing to add enhanced value to these products.
Role
As a Principal Software Engineering at Mastercard, you will drive the Technology roadmap within the program and expected to perform the following general duties:
• Hands-on full-stack developer who writes high quality, secure code that is modular, functional, and testable in adherence with MasterCard standards, processes, and industry best practices.
• Work with business/product owners to architect and deliver on new system or enhance existing systems.
• Drive the architectural design, including dependent services, service interactions, and policies.
• Provides strategic thinking and leadership related to a wide range of applications and systems, or software-development methodologies.
• Benchmark and drive engineering productivity, quality, and technology policy compliance in the areas of ownership
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of software engineers, guiding them in best practices, code reviews, and problem-solving.
• Lead by example with hands-on approaches to demonstrate engineering excellence.
• Recruit and hire the right talent, always bringing in someone better than at least half the individuals in the role.
• Provide and facilitate timely feedback, coaching in the moment, and mentoring for staff at all levels.
• Updates Senior and Executive Management on status of high visibility initiatives
All About You
• Hands-on experience in designing solutions and full stack development in modern technologies for large enterprise technology platforms and systems.
• Hands-on experience in coding Microservices in Java, building UI/UX, React, Angular, spring boot, Python and event driven architecture.
• Experience in deploying applications using CI/CD pipelines, docker containers & Kubernetes to Cloud platforms. Prior experience in AWS/Azure is a plus.
• Has experience designing and implementing solutions focusing on the non-functional concerns - Performance, Scalability, Availability, Extensibility, Supportability, Usability
• Operate with urgency, fairness, and decency to address challenges and solve for new opportunities.
• Capable of working under pressure - navigating complex initiatives, competing priorities and customer requirements.
• Strong communicator to maintain internal and external alignment.
• Familiar with cutting edge industry trends and thorough understanding of development methodologies and standards.
• Ability to work as a member of a matrix-based, diverse, and geographically distributed project team
• Strong communication skills - both verbal and written - with strong relationship building, collaborative skills and organizational skills.
