    Position summary

    an entrepreneurial mindset. Provide Microsoft SQL Server Database support for MasterCard Application databases in On-Prem and Cloud databases such as AWS elasticache. As a Database Engineer, will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining Mastercard's database systems. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data requirements, optimize database performance, and ensure data integrity and security along with maintaining best practices.

    Role
    • Advanced hands-on experience in configuring, patching, upgrading, and optimizing database software and related products.
    • Advanced experience in security, backup/recovery, architecture, networking, and administration for assigned database discipline.
    • Proven record of accomplishment in working with technology teams for the development, maintenance, testing, implementation, and support of assigned database technologies and associated software products.
    • Proactively monitor with advanced troubleshooting skills for database issues escalated by the business team and internal monitoring in a timely manner with strong skills to drive to root cause and remediation of issues.
    • Ability to develop a strong partnership with technology teams and customers to understand business needs and with advanced skills to communicate solutions in business terms.
    • Understand database security topics including database users, roles, and privileges.
    • Understand cloud concepts including database administration activities in cloud solutions.
    • Strong to advanced performance and tuning skills with the ability to identify, respond and resolve database performance issues; communicates database performance resolution to technical teams and business partners.
    • Successfully follow change management, problem management and incident management processes and procedures.
    • May manage large to enterprise project/initiatives with specialized knowledge within assigned discipline and the ability to architect solutions.
    • Proven record of accomplishment to proactively plan and coordinate larger technical and architectural efforts within the database team and with external technology teams.
    • Ability to influence Mastercard best practices in planning, coordinating, implementing, and maintaining database solutions.
    • Proven record of accomplishment in training and mentoring members of the team by contributing to supporting documentation.
    • Ability to be on-call after hours and weekends.

    All About You
    The ideal candidate for this position should:

    • Proactively monitoring database performance and troubleshooting issues
    • Working cross-functionally with our engineers and analytics professionals to optimize queries, fix performance bottlenecks
    • Creating and maintaining change control and testing processes, reviewing and approving database modifications
    • Have good knowledge of Replicaiotn strategy AlwaysOn
    • Reviewing development and deployment processes related to databases and identifying areas of improvement
    • Implement database changes and modifications as per the application release activities
    • Can do database patching , database upgrades and implement best practice on databases .
    • Knowledge of SQL Server Analysis Services, SQL Server Integration Services, PowerBI report server.
    • Improving database expertise company-wide
    • Additional knowledge of AWS and AZURE will be helpful as there are some cricital respective modules resides on those technologies.
