    Position summary

    About the team

    The Corporate Development & Strategy team (CD&S) is responsible for developing and driving the strategic agenda and supporting initiatives for Mizuho Americas. Based in NY, the team functions as key partner with the business and senior management, coordinating on cross-functional initiatives as well as driving enterprise level initiatives within business divisions and corporate functions.

    This role is responsible for developing and executing growth initiatives, including new businesses, acquisitions, and investments across the Americas business, with a focus on the Global Markets business within the Corporate and Investment Bank (CIB). The team works closely with the local and global executive management teams, as well as with a wide range of local stakeholder groups to drive high impact results for the firm. 

    Corporate Development & Strategy provides several key functions with Mizuho Americas:

    • Strategy (Firmwide & Business Specific)
    • Mergers & Acquisitions
    • Digital Innovation
    • Principal Investments
    • Corporate Change Initiatives
    • Executive Office Support

    Core Responsibilities

    • Support the development, planning and execution of Mizuho’s strategic initiatives by partnering with the Fixed Income and Equities division senior leadership and COO teams to understand business needs and growth opportunities
    • Identify new businesses or products for growth
    • Source and evaluate inorganic opportunities
    • Formulate presentation materials on product and business strategies and specific initiatives for senior management
    • Foster strong relationships with the businesses across the firm
    • Engage in external strategic relationships to promote firm priorities
    • Perform and maintain competitor/industry research, along with regular reporting for executive management and business heads

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree (finance, business or accounting preferable). MBA preferred.
    • 6+ years of experience from either a management consulting firm or financial services firm in strategy or client-facing roles
    • Strong business, analytical, statistical, quantitative and problem-solving skills
    • Knowledge of Market structure and trade flows across a range of FICC and Equities products preferred
    • Knowledge of Markets regulation (i.e. SEC, CFTC, FRB) preferred
    • Demonstrated interest in learning new subjects and quickly adapting to new challenges
    • Strong communication, presentation, written and organizational skills, including the ability to formulate complex or ambiguous data into compelling narratives
    • Ability to work as a team player, accept substantial individual responsibility and proactively create value for the team
    • Strong relationship management and team building skills with the ability to influence cross-functionally
    • Excellent skills in MS Excel and PowerPoint tool

    The expected base salary ranges from $121,000 - $200,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
