Claims Advocate Philadelphia
The Claims Advocate role at Marsh combines technical claim handling skills as a foundation, using analytical tools at your disposal, and adds high level client advocacy within a collaborative team in a collegial atmosphere.
Responsibilities
- Discussion with clients on coverage, reserves, settlement proposals, best claim adjustment practices and claim resolutions.
- Follow up with counsel and experts, discuss claim and/or arrange meetings as required.
- Necessary attendance, input and guidance at client, carrier and third party administrator (TPA) meetings.
- Disputed service and claims handling, and specific advocacy and intercession for client on issues.
- Attendance at regularly scheduled formal claim review meetings between the client and insurers or TPA.
- Colleague technical training and ongoing technical support and guidance.
- Liaison with placement and/or internal colleagues on specific client issues.
- Analyze loss statistics, identify trends, claims cost reduction opportunities, prepare report & recommendations.
- Creation of claims literature and thought leadership material.
- Proactively handle tasks in line with specific client requirements, departmental procedures and scope of role / limits of authority.
Operations & Strategic Management
- Challenge existing practices and develop innovative solutions.
- Lead, manage and/or contribute to complex projects of significant scope and impact.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships, utilizing effective communication, with colleagues, clients and other external parties.
- Build, maintain & demonstrate comprehensive knowledge & understanding of the Marsh organization, strategies & client drivers/expectations.
- Monitor external environments for trends and best practices and implement appropriate action plans.
- Within limits of authority, use judgement and take personal responsibility for areas of financial impact.
- Lead and/or contribute to internal and external meetings and projects as required.
- Attendance/participation in renewal strategy meetings (internal & external) and provide claims feedback to assist in market placement and/or renewal.
- Insurer relationship management.
- Internal E&O mitigation and investigation.
- Ensure all jurisdictional protocols or regulations are understood.
- Engagement in selling claims services and solutions to clients, articulating the value proposition.
- Analyze contracts to assist the Marsh account manager in appropriate pricing of services.
- Creation of claims procedures or manuals, liaison with clients, carriers and experts as necessary.
Qualifications
- College or university degree required.
- At least 5 years of commercial liability claims experience required other coverage lines such as workers compensation are a plus.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Clear and concise oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (or equivalent) Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Strong problem solving capabilities.
- Ability to handle very complex and difficult negotiations and influence multiple stakeholders.
