Key Responsibilities:
Engagement Managers direct the day-to-day work of our consulting teams, working side-by-side with our clients. The Engagement Manager position offers excellent career and growth opportunities for talented, highly motivated professionals with notable prior experience. Engagement Managers are given the opportunity for rapid professional growth, to participate in entrepreneurial work, and to share in the success of the team. Initial responsibilities may include:
- Leading teams of consultants in complex analysis and strategic problem solving including: problem framing, the use of advanced analytical techniques, results synthesis, and identification of client implications
- Overseeing and guiding the consulting team as they develop hypotheses; manage data collection, model creation and analyses; conduct primary and secondary research; creatively tackle information limitations; and surface insights
- Supporting Partners in project execution through excellent project management including: work planning, managing work flow, upward management and coaching/developing more junior team members
- Managing client relationships and networks, presenting to senior audiences, and working day-to-day with senior and mid-level clients
- Effectively communicating issues and solutions in formal and informal settings, through written and verbal communication
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
Engagement Managers serve as the primary contact point for senior client executives and Oliver Wyman consultants staffed on client engagements. While specific responsibilities will vary based on previous experience the ideal candidate will have the following:
- Experience in project-based, team-oriented environments (5 + years)
- Track record of leading and managing teams and delivering against tight deadlines in fast paced and demanding environments
- In-depth knowledge (state of the art knowledge) of strategic topics in consumer and small business banking credit, deposits, wealth management, and payments, such as: Product strategy, design, pricing and economics: Data driven decision support: Consumer segment needs and strategies; Channel management: Organizational design and post-merger integration; Retail financial services risk management; Private equity due diligence; Banking market landscape, financial reporting and regulation; Exposure to corporate organic and inorganic growth initiatives
- Ability to apply depth of content knowledge for thought leadership in project execution
- Outstanding communication skills; comfort in presenting to senior executives, both internally and among clients
- Ability to leverage sophisticated economic analyses to conduct primary research, define trends, draw conclusions and present recommendations
- Collaborate with Partners to produce client deliverables
- Develop intellectual capital to support business development activities
- Undergraduate or advanced degree from a top academic institution
- Willingness to travel
