Lead Product Owner - London
What can you expect:
Based from our London office, you will be responsible for three key components - 1.Being a Product Owner (likely 50%-60% of the time) and leading by example with their interactions with Global Technology / Digital, 2.Collaborate with Product Category Leaders and LOB Senior team and make a substantial contribution to the development of our integrated vision and strategy for strategic applications and 3.Lead a team of Product Owners / Analysts both technically (standards, Agile ways of working and problem solving) and people leadership (people development, recruitment, performance management)
As a Lead Product Owner whilst showcasing your strengths in your first few months you will also be upskilled in Mercer's processes by peers and management

We will count on you to:
Work with Product Category leaders globally to help define the vision and roadmap for strategic software applications, to support the relevant LOB propositions for Mercer
Understand the trends in the marketplace (both technology and employee benefits industry) and how this should influence the vision and roadmap
Support the development of business cases for investment in new features / functionality by product category including supporting the estimation and Cap Ex approval process
Define and oversee delivery of applications development roadmaps and full product lifecycle for strategic product within the LOB (product may vary based on demand)
To determine relative priorities within the backlog by product and release, own and communicates Product Roadmaps
Input into strategic discussions on applications - understand the wider systems and how process efficiencies can be made
Be the Product Owner (Agile Scrum) for new features, working with the business to understand business value, capturing functional and performance requirements
Define personas, user journey expectations and define specific measurable results
Provide documentation, training, demo's and roll out of new features for business outcomes, communicate timings of each release to the business and support the release process
To support resolution of priority conflicts within the product roadmaps across applications to deliver E2E solutions, based on business value, technical debt and technical enabling features, within the backlog to deliver required business outcomes
Support the Chair of the LOB Product Council to provide governance and oversight across Technology & Business for the development of the products
New ideas and in-flight development projects (understand leading KPI indicators on success of product developments)
Where appropriate chair Product Development Groups - ensure adequate oversight / control of development activities and ensuring that Mercer is able to maximise value from development investment
Support Product Category Leaders / Product Managers with KPI's both defining and regular reporting to help prove delivery of business value
Where appropriate, lead the team of Product Owners / Analysts for the relevant product set
Be responsible for people related matter such as recruitment, performance management, people development and regular 121s
Partner and build effective relationships within Mercer O&T, Digital / Technology teams and business leaders, to deliver roadmaps and benefits realisation from our investments
Educate, where needed, local leadership and business teams on Agile development methodologies, prioritisation techniques and delivering business value from software development
Provide coaching and mentoring to other Product Owners globally across Mercer
What you need to have:
Strong software development experience essential
Agile, team development and business prioritisation
Strong communication skills
Ability to gauge the detail of a problem, look above the detail to coming to a solution
Commercially aware - sense of the market

Demonstrable commercial strength and ability to assess business cases
Education to degree level
