The Opportunity
The development manager will grow the Software Engineering team into technical experts focused on delivering high impact solutions with world class technology. Delivers high quality services including improving capabilities with training, best practices and coaching. Works on projects in a senior advisor role to ensure projects can run smoothly and deliver value.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide performance management, mentoring, career development support and coaching of developers
- Work closely with the technical leads to gather real time feedback on developers performance
- Responsible for hiring and onboarding new developers
- Contribute to Business System's process improvement culture, and create/enforce policies at project management and technical delivery level
- Effectively manage multiple tasks and complex development projects while meeting critical deadlines in a high-pressure work environment
- Works on projects in a senior development advisor role to ensure projects can run smoothly
- Quickly works to remove barriers to delivery, regardless of their location in the organization and once removed established improvements to prevent future disruption
- Leverage service tiers to effectively and efficiently handle emerging issues and provide a high service level
- Deliver regular updates within the team and to leadership
- Foster a culture of continuous engineering improvement through mentoring, feedback, and metrics
- Encourage innovative ideas to the table every day, in order to find better ways of accomplishing your objectives
- Support continuous improvement by investigating research on alternative technologies, tools and methods
- Flag emerging issues within the team or projects
- Adapts to changing priorities and optimizes on the go
Experience required
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, systems analysis or a related field of study, or equivalent experience.
- 4 + years managerial experience and proven success managing all phases of the software development life cycle
- Experience working as a developer in a modern development language (Open Source Experience preferred)
