THE ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
No two OW Digital projects are the same. You'll be working with varied and diverse teams to deliver unique and unprecedented products across industries. The Lead Platform DevSecOps Engineer is crucial to help drive our exciting, containerized hosting solution forward with innovative thinking and best-in-class architecture and technology. This role sits in our Digital Platform Team who are responsible for managing and enhancing our globally distributed, cloud-agnostic hosting platform (which hosts more than 100 active project teams at any given time across over 300 virtual machines). We expect this role to include much more responsibility than a traditional server/sys admin role. Instead, our DevSecOps engineer will be closely involved with evolving our hosting offering to become increasingly serverless, automated, and infrastructure-as-code based. You'll be working as part of a team of highly skilled engineers to make this continuous evolution of our hosting services happen.
Some of your responsibilities would include:
Crafting technical solutions to challenging problems
Architecting, building, and optimizing our cloud-based, containerized hosting services, increasing our reliance on infrastructure-as-code and policy-as-code
Partnering with OWG practice groups (e.g., Retail, Health & Life Sciences, etc.) to understand business and client needs and opportunities for hosting
Advising and supporting secure DevSecOps solutions for teams building on our internal hosting solution, and potentially with our clients seeking digital transformation opportunities
Contributing to a strategic roadmap of technical development of our hosting offerings
Writing, testing, and delivering pieces of the strategic roadmap
Working with a team to manage and maintain our extensive cloud-based hosting environment
Automating and improving existing hosting environment to reduce manual workloads and/or increase security posture
YOUR EXPERIENCE
You are a well-rounded technologist who brings a wealth of real-world experience with:
building things using different tools and technologies and demonstrating the ability to align with evolving technical trends
working across varying facets of the technology stack
public cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
versatility with technology and ability to apply the appropriate technology to problem-solving
handling multiple workstreams and prioritizing accordingly
We're also hoping you'll be able to show us experience with some of the following. You don't need any experience with them to apply. But this list gives you a good idea of the tech and tooling we tend to use and deploy:
DevSecOps tools: Docker, Rancher, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Chef, Octopus Deploy, Puppet, Terraform
Cloud Platforms: AWS, Azure
Operating Systems: Windows Server, Linux (Ubuntu)
Database Platforms: Relational RDBMS (e.g., MSSQL, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Hadoop)
Monitoring and logging: Prometheus, CheckMK, Nagios, Grafana, Fluentd, Splunk
Scripting: Go, Python, Ruby, Groovy, Bash, Powershell, AWS CLI, Azure RM
The above is our bread and butter. If you bring experience with any of the below capabilities, we find them interesting and increasingly part of our future roadmap:
IaC/PaC cloud-native tooling: Serverless, EKS, AKS
Cloud-native tooling on Amazon (e.g., RDS, Aurora) and Azure (e.g., Azure Managed Instances, Azure SQL Database)
Progression and enablement against the OWASP DevSecOps maturity model
