Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced research professional to join Oliver Wyman Knowledge Services department. The professional will work closely with partners and consultants in the EMEA Communications, Media, and Technology Practice Group (CMT) to gain deep insights into the sector. Oliver Wyman's CMT teams work globally to augment our clients' expertise and capabilities. Our focus is on helping clients compete smartly, serve customers better and more profitably, operate faster and at a lower cost, invest more rationally, and innovate with a business purpose.
The Knowledge Services department supports our consultants with planning and execution of secondary market research projects with organizing industry and company information as well as their interpretation, evaluation, and the presentation of results. You will work with a wide range of information tools and proprietary market databases to provide research for client projects and business development.
The role requires the ability to develop strong relationship with market research colleagues, practice members and help consultants to scope and develop their research needs, conduct timely, accurate and cost-effective research, deliver compelling synthesized end products, and work within the framework of the European based team, sharing work and experience and helping build the research function in the region.
Your tasks will include:
- Provide accurate and timely market research for CMT practice both quick solutions and in-depth
- Synthesize information and glean key concepts and trends from the information, provide own point of view and insights in the deliverables
- Independently manage the pipeline of industry-specific tasks, set priorities, and collaborate with a team of international colleagues to meet client demands
- Directly engage in strategic projects, together with our research specialists and consultants, contribute to updates and maintenance of customized knowledge products
- Use MS Office tools to produce graphical portrayal of research findings, customized to project needs
Experience and Skills Required:
- At least 2 years' experience of working in a market research environment, providing business information. Preferably in a telecommunication company, think tank or management consultancy firm
- Strong desire to increase your understanding of the Communications, Media and Technology sector. Market knowledge of European telecommunication scene is essential
- Experience of working with specialized databases is an advantage. For example: Capital IQ and Market Intelligence (by S&P), Gartner, Forrester, Ovum/Omdia and others
- Advanced German and English language skills (C1/C2)
- Solid problem-solving skills, excellent attention to details and inquisitive nature
- Growth mindset and high-quality standards, willing to continuously improve your skills to enhance service to our clients
- Ability to prioritize your own work to satisfy competing client demands
- Excellent communication skills and research synthesis skills allowing you to draw out key insights
- Ability to run an analysis on company financials (incl. income statements and balance sheets) and quantitative skills (modelling & forecasting) are an advantage
- Collaborative approach. Team player who has experience of and has enjoyed working as part of a team
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work remotely in virtual settings
