Mercer Sentinel is a global group of c55 full time staff, focussed on consulting to clients on all aspects of custody, securities lending, transitions and operational risk. We operate from locations based in the Europe, Americas, Middle East, Asia and the Pacific. The Custody Consulting Team specifically consults on the selection, operations, products, services, implementation and monitoring of Custodian Banks.
We are looking to employ a Custody Consultant (Principal or Senior Associate level) who has subject matter expertise on the financial services industry including how large pension funds use global and local custodian banks. In particular, we are interested in individuals who have deep technical knowledge of the products and services provided by custodian banks to asset owners and asset managers in the UK and Europe.
Through Mercer's development programme and on-the-job training, we will support, coach and develop the successful candidate to deliver high standard of consulting services to clients. The jobholder will work as part of a team of analysts and consultants across the global Sentinel Group. The role is based from our London office supporting our client's requirements across Europe.

We will rely on you to:
Proactively work as part of the team to understand client requirements and deliver various types of consulting projects to European institutional asset owner clients who have a custodian bank relationship as part of their investment portfolio arrangement
Work with the leaders of the Sentinel team and the network of Mercer consultants across Europe to support the development of new business opportunities by developing an understanding of local client and market challenges
Liaise with global and local custodian banks to collate and analyse annual requests for information (RFI) for inclusion in Mercer's global custodian database
Lead and support the creation and distribution of recurring custodian monitoring reports
Lead on the creation and development of annual custodian capabilities reports
Assist with the development of cost effective consulting solutions which meet the clients needs
Respond to client's and consultant's technical queries on the products and services offered by custodian banks
Ensure client work is delivered to a high standard, on time and following company and business peer review requirements
Assist with team project planning and workload allocation
Contribute to Mercer Sentinel's intellectual capital through market research and process innovation
Assist with the technical training of other team members
Expect limited travel throughout Europe
What you need to have:
Significant experience as a product specialist or similar role at multiple custodian banks
Experience in project management and delivering large consulting projects to asset owners across Europe
In depth understanding of custodian bank products and services as well as market participants
Taking ownership for work, always ensuring standards and deadlines are met while keeping others informed and up-to-date
Works well under pressure, with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks
Excellent organisational and time management skills
Openly shares information and own expertise with colleagues
Possess excellent team working skills in a global working environment
