Victor is currently recruiting for a Senior Underwriter to work in our Group Benefits Technical Underwriting Department.

We will count on you to:

• Review and approve the annual proposed renewal action for the Group Benefits program with our insurance partners. This involves confirmation of premium, claims and census data by benefit line. There is close interaction with Senior Management during this process to determine and resolve strategic actions and the overall impact to Victor. This work is required to be completed within very tight time constraints.
• Calculate and post to our website the renewal position for groups that are renewing each month. This is a highly automated process requiring close interaction with our IT area for successful completion. In addition, some manual work is required to manage exceptional arrangements.
• Work closely with our Sales Representatives in the negotiation of our renewal position, when requested. This requires prompt analysis and response to achieve our service delivery standards, while maintaining our required overall pricing objectives. Occasional approval from Senior Management is required.
• Assists Technical Underwriters with pricing requests on both prospective opportunities and existing business as required.
• Responds to inquiries from Sales Representatives or other departments promptly and courteously through verbal and written communication.
• Perform other related duties as required.

What you need to have:

• Minimum of 10 years of Group Insurance experience with a strong knowledge of Group Insurance concepts and practices.
• Very strong systems knowledge and a high level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent time management skills; ability to work with rigid deadlines and a high volume of work within a close-knit team.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Detail oriented.
• Strong organization skills and the ability to prioritize.
• Possesses a positive attitude while working in a fast-paced work environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
