What can you expect?
The Team Leader is responsible for proactively managing a team engaged in a variety of tasks related to the administration of Final Salary and Defined Contribution Schemes. They are responsible for ensuring that Mercer deliver contracted levels of service and reporting within agreed costs and timescales.
The role is pivotal in providing an effective and consistent service to clients. As the 'engine room,' of our business it is vitally important that a Team Manager can maintain:
A clear understanding of client profitability and expected service
An effective and well trained group of Administrators
A buoyant and healthy level of team morale
Service delivery in a customer focussed and conscientious manner and ensuring customers are treated fairly at all times

We will count on you to:
Deliver work within contractual service levels agreements
Ensure the team complies with internal procedures, all aspects of pensions legislation and adhere to service and quality standards
Manage and distribute work to ensure accuracy and efficiency whilst removing roadblocks that could impact team performance
Liaise with onshore and offshore teams to ensure service issues are managed and resolved
Partner with the Senior Manager regarding resourcing and client expectations for all schemes managed by the team
Manage the development and training of all team members to fulfil both company needs and the employee's career development potential
Provide Management Information reports to the Service Manager
Oversee the management of ad hoc client projects to ensure delivery within budget and agreed timescales
Record and investigate any complaints raised and where needed undertake a root cause analysis of the issues and take corrective action
Complete monthly 1:1's and yearly appraisals with all team members
What you need to have:
Previous experience of managing a team of c10-15 direct reports
Proven experience of coaching and developing a team
Outstanding organisational skills with experience of delegating workloads
The ability to remain calm under pressure
Experience of running projects would be an advantage
What makes you stand out:
Previous experience of managing a Pensions Administration Team is preferred
Strong working knowledge and experience DB / Final Salary pensions administration, legislation and regulation would be an advantage
Basic PMI qualifications as a minimum and ideally working towards APMI preferred
Computer literate and strong on Microsoft Office suite with intermediate Excel skills
Experience of Pension Administration Systems, BizFlow, SharePoint and Practice Engine would be an advantage
