Technology and New Venture Expert, Marsh Labs

• Marsh Labs identifies, incubates and prototypes new concepts through applied R&D projects that are expected to have significant strategic impact in the risk management industry. In addition, the team supports client innovation by identifying and anticipating key game changing technology, business and market trends.

What's in it for you:

• As a technology expert in Marsh Labs, the candidate is responsible for predicting and studying trends in emerging technologies, with specific interest towards their ramifications on the organization and the industry in which it participates.
• The candidate must educate the organization on the potential impact of these technologies, and set the vision around how these technologies could be applied in the future. The candidate should be adept at emerging technologies such as AI/ML, NLP, blockchain, serverless computing, and cybersecurity.
• This is a multi-faceted role that will require the ability to understand the implications of applying these technologies to the risk management and insurance industry as well as explain key concepts to a non-technical audience while also having advanced technical chops to create pilots on emerging tech sometimes jointly with academia, startups or the industry ecosystem.

We will count on you to:

• Lead an area of "future-proofing" Marsh through technology research, ecosystem scouting and product incubation.
• Own top-to-down vision on both innovation and technology strategy on key emerging topics and themes.
• Ability to evaluate emerging technology stacks and vendors and provide key technology strategy decisions for adoption.
• Ability to drive a global software team to deliver key advanced technology components as needed to showcase emerging concepts.
• Keep an active pulse on key innovation trends and market disruptors in the insurance space.
• Serve as a visible thought leader in the industry through various engagements.
• Evangelize key topics to both internal and external audiences at both practitioner and executive levels.
• Develop relationships with key ecosystem players in area of tech expertise.

What you need to have:

• B.S., Masters or Ph.D. in engineering, computer science or technical field and 10+ years of software development experience in an enterprise environment.
• Experience working with three or more of the following: cloud computing, web/mobile application development, distributed and parallel systems, machine learning, natural language processing, big data, developing large software systems, and/or security software development.
• Prior experience in a strategic or innovation consulting role is a plus.
• Prior experience in the risk management, insurance or financial services is a big plus.
• Understanding of emerging fintech and insurtech technical stacks.
• Love for coding and hand-on development of new advanced technologies.
• Strong ability to handle multiple parallel initiatives.
• Work autonomously and build projects from start to finish.
• Experience working under high degree of ambiguity.
• Excellent communication and collaborative skills.
