Background on the Position
We are looking to hire a lawyer at Vice President level based in Hong Kong. Reporting directly to the Head of Sales and Trading Legal for Asia Pacific, we are looking for candidates with enthusiasm and strong initiative, who can manage a diverse and complex workload meeting tight deadlines with responsibility for, amongst other things, the following:
Providing legal, regulatory and transactional advice (including documentation/drafting advice) on fixed income business and transactions for the Firm.
Advising the Fixed Income Division of the Firm personnel on legal and regulatory changes, industry initiatives and policy developments.
Engaging with colleagues in other regions (EMEA and Americas) to ensure consistent practices across the Firm.
Working with other product coverage lawyers on cross product transactions and issues and country coverage lawyers in APAC, including Mainland China, Singapore, India, Korea and Australia.
Managing Outside Counsel
Advising on cross border regulatory issues
Responding to regulatory inquiries and initiatives
Resolving issues relating to suitability of transactions, franchise protection and sound management of conflicts of interests
Working closely with colleagues in Compliance and other infrastructure groups across the Firm
Participating in industry working groups Qualifications
A lawyer with general finance training from a reputable international law firm or in-house counsel at a leading financial institution
4+ years post qualification experience
Product experience (structured finance, derivatives, spot transactions and loans)
First rate legal drafting and negotiation skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills (English)
Ability to speak, read and write Chinese and specifically Mandarin will be highly desirable
Proactive, willing to learn, organized, detail orientated, with an ability to manage a diverse and complex workload and work to tight deadlines
A team player who works collaboratively and productively with colleagues across LCD and who will continue to foster the excellent culture and spirit within the Division
