l underlying private equity managers. The individual's role will typically be the performance and documentation of due diligence. In addition, this person will be involved in various risk management support activities such as developing and enhancing the group's various approaches to assess and monitor operational risks. The candidate will report to the Head of Operational Due Diligence. This position is located in West Conshohocken, Pennsylvania. The successful candidate will play a key role in all phases of the due diligence process.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate, prepare for, and actively participate in due diligence meetings with senior management of potential and existing private equity managers and conduct in-depth operational due diligence on private equity fund managers and their investment strategies
Evaluate operational risks including compliance, legal, IT systems, cybersecurity, business continuity, and financial controls and recommend mitigation strategies to private equity managers
Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to evaluate fund operations and maintain databases for tracking and reporting purposes
Liaise with the in-house legal team to ensure that potential and existing fund managers comply with relevant regulatory requirements and industry best practices
Coordinate and review background investigations of senior management of private equity fund managers and/or underlying portfolio companies
Analyze audited financial statements from underlying funds to identify departures from generally accepted accounting principles, qualifications of audit opinions, performance, related party transactions and other unusual attributes
Evaluate and monitor third-party service providers utilized by fund managers, including administrators, auditors, and custodians, and assess the effectiveness and reliability of outsourced functions and services
Prepare detailed reports and presentations summarizing findings and assessments for the Investment Committee
Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging risks, and best practices in operational due diligence and continuously refine and enhance due diligence methodologies and processes
Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, economics, or a related field
Advanced degrees (MBA, MS) or professional certifications (CFA, CAIA, CPA) are a plus
Excellent presentation, verbal communication and interview skills required
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in investment management industry, preferably in operational due diligence, risk management, audit, or a related field within the alternative investment field
Ability to apply knowledge and experience to a wide variety of alternative investment managers and operating environments to assess operational risks and identify potential concerns
Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex operational processes and risks
Ability to travel globally (position may require travel)
Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Team-player instincts, with a professional demeanor characterized by collegiality, mutual respect, integrity, and thoughtfulness
