Basic Purpose

Develop and mature BI and analytics capabilities to enable self-service data engineering, reporting and analytics. Responsible for driving platform enhancements and optimizing the performance of Navy Federal’s data analytics ecosystem. Work directly with stakeholders to understand their technical objectives and collaborate with IT partners to deliver capabilities. Advise on best practices for migrating on prem hosted analytics applications to the Azure cloud. Lead the design and development of complex and critical data analytics projects under minimal supervision and with wide latitude for independent judgment. Individual contributor and mentor to junior staff.

Responsibilities:

• Build and evangelize self-service BI & analytics capabilities across the enterprise
• Work directly with business leadership to understand data analytics requirements; propose and develop solutions that enable effective decision-making and drives business objectives
• Identify improvements to the way in which the enterprise uses BI and analytics tools with an automation-first mindset
• Provide business application and platform support, troubleshoot technical issues, enable data connections, and assist users with their analytics and reporting needs 
• Responsible for license & access management, monitoring resource health, and optimizing application performance
• Provide reporting on platform performance and capacity
• Regulate a deployment process to publish and promote reports, dashboards, and data sources from development to production 
• Manage and govern security groups, content, and departmental Workspaces and Projects
• Deploy and manage data gateways for connecting cloud to on prem data sources
• Evaluate and collaborate on functional requirements for BI and analytics solutions
• Recognize potential issues and risks during the analytics project implementation and suggest mitigation strategies 
• Create and document application support procedures
• Ensure end users and business partners have trust in the analytics platforms and actively promote stakeholder adoption of self-service tools
• Prepare advanced project implementation plans which highlight major milestones and deliverables 
• Evaluate, develop, and implement analytical techniques and best practices to educate business users 
• Prepare high quality project deliverables that are valued by the business and present them in such a manner that they are easily understood by project stakeholders
• Key point of contact between data analysts/data scientists and the project/functional analytics leads
• Mentor junior project team members in carrying out analytics project implementation activities 
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Hands on experience with configuring and maintaining enterprise analytics applications such as Tableau Server, Power BI Report Server, Power BI Service, RStudio Team, SAS
• Administration experience with Power BI/Tableau and migration of infrastructure to the cloud
• Experience installing and managing Power BI Data Gateways
• Strong understanding of Active Directory, DNS, load balancers, and network firewalls
• Ability to write, analyze, and debug SQL queries that range in difficulty from simple to complex
• Familiarity with Azure cloud solutions
• Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, R
• Experience with shell scripting (PowerShell, Bash etc.)
• REST / Web Service API development
• Ability to design an effective technical architecture
• Ability to think abstractly and recognize when a generic solution can solve many problems rather than just one
• Demonstrates a passion for data analytics, educating users, and customer enablement
• Demonstrates a high comfort level speaking in front of large audiences and possesses an executive presence 
• Experience with generating a services catalog and implementation plan
• Ability to understand the business problem and determine what aspects of it require optimization; articulate those aspects in a clear and concise manner
• Ability to understand other projects or functional areas to consolidate analytical needs and processes
• Demonstrates change management and/or communication skills
• Ability to manage the process between updating and maintaining data source systems and implementing data related requirements
• Proficient in managing the process between updating and maintaining data source systems and implementing data related requirements

Desired Qualifications and Education Requirements:

• Machine learning or predictive modeling is a plus
• Ability to define and analyze complex models that predict the probability of an outcome
• Understands data models, large datasets, business/technical requirements, statistical programming languages and libraries
• Experience with ETL tools and techniques and provisioning data for analytics using Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics
• Experience or knowledge with SQL
• Experience or knowledge with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes
• Experience with various data structures and the ability to extract data from various data sources such as data warehouse, data lake, data hubs and other
• Experience with data cleansing, data pipelines and other analytical techniques required for data usage
• Experience with both batch and streaming data processing
• Knowledge of Navy Federal Credit Union instructions, standards, and procedures

Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

Location: 820 Follin Lane, Vienna, VA 22180

*Navy Federal is now hybrid! Our standard enterprise requirement for a hybrid schedule is to report onsite 4-16 days each month. The number of days reporting onsite will ultimately be determined by the employee's leadership and business unit needs. You will learn more throughout the hiring and onboarding process.

Salary: 
The salary range for this position is: $116,800 to $163,500 Annual
