Basic Purpose
To conduct the financial audits to assess risks and opportunities of Navy Federal’s financial activities. Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and established internal policies and procedures.
Responsibilities:
• Plan and conduct financial audits in accordance with Navy Federal and industry audit standards
• Coordinate with points of contact and first/second lines of defense to conduct preliminary research to document process narratives, workflows, to identify key risks and controls, and to obtain audit evidence for testing
• To develop and execute a risk-based audit work program reviewing and analyzing audit evidence and results of testing to determine design and operating effectiveness of controls under review within the time budgeted
• Identify and quantify issues and provide risk-based recommendations to implement and enhance internal controls to Senior and/or Lead level auditors and management in a timely manner
• Prepare audit work papers to document relevant information obtained, analyzed, and evaluated that support audit observations/issues and conclusions
• Review remediation plans and corrective actions taken to assure they adequately address identified issues
• Develop and/or provide input to quality and timely audit reports for senior management, the President/CEO, and the Supervisory Committee
• Stay abreast of and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and industry laws, regulations, and guidelines
• Partner with Finance department and collaborate with other business areas regarding accounting/financial matters
• Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business/Accounting, or the equivalent combination of experience, education, and training
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification or CPA candidate
• Significant knowledge of accounting principles, practices and methodologies including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB)
• Knowledge of the internal audit function and processes, preferably in a financial institution
• Knowledge of Internal Controls concepts and practices and risk-based auditing techniques
• Strong research, data mining, analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
• Strong skills presenting findings, conclusions, alternatives, and information clearly and concisely
• Experience in managing multiple priorities independently and/or in a team environment to achieve goals
• Strong organizational, planning and time management skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Skilled in using database, word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity
Desired Qualifications and Education Requirements:
• Master’s degree in Business/Accounting, or the equivalent combination of experience, education, and training
• Professional certifications such as Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
• Experience with credit union financials and/or regulations
• Experience as Auditor-in-Charge of financial/GAAP related audits
• Experience working with all levels of staff, management, stakeholders, vendors
• Knowledge of project/program management processes and methodologies
• Advanced knowledge of Navy Federal’s functions, philosophy, operations and organizational objectives

The salary range for this position is: $72,300 - $123,500
