Position summary


Business Solutions’ purpose is to originate small business loans and communicate the benefits offered by Business Solutions’ products and services to Navy Federal Credit Union’s prospective members. Follow up with members to respond to inquiries and questions related to business products and services. Communicate Navy Federal business services products and services to generate a consistent and ongoing flow of new business loan applications and closings.

The Summer Associate would contribute to managing several tasks that are part of the loan cycle. These tasks would require direct communication with peers, partners, and members. The Summer Associate will assist with creating, managing, and reviewing various reports via multiple systems. The Summer Associate will also be tasked with identifying and assisting with process improvement projects, which will be assigned based on the needs of the business unit at that time.

The Summer Associate Program is a 12-week internship program beginning in May 2024 and ending in August 2024. Students will work on impactful projects and meaningful work during their internship. To qualify, applicants must be currently pursuing a degree from an accredited college or university and have an anticipated graduation date of December 2024 or after. 



  • Identify communication gaps between business partners and with members to implement corrections or efficiencies. 
  • Monitor loan system queues and other databases to create or adjust reporting for tracking and accountability.
  • Review procedures, training material, and reports related to the loan application and closing process to create and assist with updates to resources as needed.
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies/processing problems to include documentation on time-sensitive issues.
  • Interact with members, other staff, and outside contacts to resolve discrepancies, communicate project updates, and request feedback.
  • Remain alert to possible account fraud/abuse; forward to the appropriate area for review/action, assist with reviewing records and documents for potential fraud/abuse patterns.
  • Ensure adherence to established Navy Federal Business Solutions policies and procedures.
  • Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly activity logs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


  • Must be pursuing a degree in or related to Accounting, Finance, Business Administration/Management, Project Management/Process Improvement, and Information Systems Management

Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00AM - 4:30PM

Navy Federal is now hybrid! Our standard enterprise requirement for a hybrid schedule is to report onsite 4-16 days each month. The number of days reporting onsite will ultimately be determined by the employee's leadership and business unit needs. You will learn more throughout the hiring and onboarding process.
