Strategic Space Systems Division (SSSD) is an industry-leading provider for prime satellite and payload capabilities and directed energy and electronics solutions for national security, military, and civil customers. Northrop Grumman, Strategic Space Systems Division, has an opening for an Electronics Technician 2 - Dynamics Test**,** to join our team of highly qualified and diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, California.

Selected candidate will support vibration, acoustic, shock, modal, tap, and jitter testing. Able to work on elevated platforms and lift equipment up to 30 pounds unassisted.

Essential Functions to include:

Setup control system / consoles

  • Program and run vibration test control computers
  • Perform software updates to controller PC
  • Front End module (vibRunner) to Controller PC network verification
  • Work from schematic to setup controller patch panel
  • Signal conditioners
  • Vibration Monitor Limiter
  • Oscilloscopes

Calibrate Accelerometers

  • Run sine sweeps / dwells on calibration System
  • Perform T-inserting when applicable
  • Produce Calibration Sheet
  • Document Results on Data base

Setup and perform box, subsystem and multi-shaker level tests

  • Install accelerometers on test hardware
  • Perform electrical end-to-end checks
  • Install test articles to shakers per procedures
  • Route accelerometer cables and connect to Data Acquisition System
  • Troubleshoot Accelerometers (T-Insert checkouts) - Test Equipment / Oscilloscope / Capacitance checker

Perform Tests

  • Follow Test Procedure
  • Program Controller PC
  • Verify control system is configured correctly
  • Perform Pre-Test Crew Briefing
  • Perform Dynamics Test - run the shaker
  • Troubleshoot Accelerometers (T-Insert checkouts, see above), if needed
  • Produce Test Controller Plots for End Item Data Package
  • Provide raw data to analyst (if requested)

Post Tests

  • De-configure Hardware
  • Remove accelerometers and cables
  • Clean-up for the next test

This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience performing technician responsibilities.
  • Experience using electronics (voltmeter, oscilloscope, signal conditioners, etc.)
  • Familiarity with modal, acoustic, vibe or shock testing methodologies
  • Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Clearance OR SCI Access.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a dynamics test environment
  • Experience using basic tools (torque wrenches, drills, etc.)
  • Test lab experience, to include programming and running vibration test computers, installing, calibrating OR removing accelerometers.
  • Knowledge and/or experience working in aerospace
  • Ability to take direction and follow company procedures and processes
  • Self-starter with ability to work with limited supervision.
  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance OR SCI Access.

Salary Range: $50,000 USD - $83,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
