The products survive harsh environments including terrestrial, airborne, and space. Finding employees that can develop high performance, integrated, software-hardware solutions, and implementing them with ingenuity and creativity is critical to our success.

We are seeking cleared or clearable Embedded Software Engineers who are self-motivated and energetic with a background in Embedded Systems Design and Software Development for our Beavercreek, Ohio location near Dayton, Ohio.

Essential Functions:

  • Will be part of a multi-disciplinary program responsible for architecting, designing, testing, and deploying embedded software.
  • Will contribute to system requirements generation, embedded software development, and integration and testing of systems using core technologies (Low/High Level SW, RTOS, Linux, C/C++, System C, Python, VHDL, Matlab, DevOps).

This position can be filled at the Engineer or Principal Engineer level.

Basic Qualifications for Engineer level:

  • 1 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a technical area (BSEE or other Engineering discipline preferred); 0 years of relevant experience with a Masters' degree
  • US citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
  • Experience with C, C++, Python or other high-order languages in real-time embedded applications
  • Solid understanding of software development processes for real-time embedded applications

Basic Qualifications for Principal Engineer level:

  • 4 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree in a technical area (BSEE or other Engineering discipline preferred); or 2 years of relevant experience with a Masters' degree in a technical area (BSEE or other Engineering discipline preferred); or 0 years of relevant experience with a Ph.D. in a technical area (BSEE or other Engineering discipline preferred)
  • US citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
  • Experience with C, C++, Python or other high-order languages in real-time embedded applications
  • Solid understanding of software development processes for real-time embedded applications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Micro-controllers and HW modeling
  • Experience developing multi-threaded applications in RTOS environment
  • Experience with Linux kernel and user space development
  • Experience with hardware (how low/high speed I/O works, QSPI, DMA) working with hardware from a test and debug perspective.
  • Experience with UEFI cryptography or cryptography basics (familiarity using openSSL)
  • Experience designing and implementing complex algorithms requiring strict timing, systems resource managed, and interface constraints
  • Experience with collaboration tools like Jira and Confluence
  • Experience with modernized software development processes (e.g. Agile, DevOps, DevSecOps)
  • Experience leading small software development teams and ensuring work is completed in accordance with design and development processes
  • Highly motivated to solve complex problems and continuously improve
  • Ability to produce high quality work both independently and with a team
  • Strong verbal and written technical communication skills
  • Ability to work well with a high-performing and results-oriented product development team
  • Active Secret Security Clearance

This position offers the option of a 9/80 work schedule. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work nine-hour days Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Salary Range: $74,900 USD - $112,300 USD
Salary Range 2: $92,200 USD - $138,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
