Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a talented Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team in Buffalo, NY.

The Supplier Performance Management Engineer will spend considerable efforts in developing program assessments to determine supplier quality risk, specification compliance reviews and affordable risk mitigation approaches. The candidate must be a self-starter who can problem solve with minimal supervision. The expectation of this role is to proactively manage supplier quality to drive down quality issues and improve delivery.

This position will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Proactively manage Supplier Quality risk to drive down supplier escapes.

  • Develops and implements supplier quality evaluation and control systems.

  • Assures supplier process and product quality, including contractual, regulatory, and technical compliance.

  • Interfaces directly with supplier personnel and must be knowledgeable in and capable of assessing both supplier quality and manufacturing processes and procedures.

  • Conducts product and process verification activities, monitors supplier quality performance, and drives root cause corrective action analysis for supplier quality issues.

  • Supports the maintenance of the approved supplier list and periodically reviews supplier performance to determine whether suppliers should remain on the approved list.

  • Manages supplier requests for waivers, deviations and discrepancy reporting process.

  • Keeps management apprised of supplier performance, quality status, and risks. Coordinates and oversees Supplier Quality plan implementation through all program phases.

  • Actively engages in supplier evaluation, qualification and selection as part of the Business Acquisition Process (BAP) and as new procurements are required on existing programs.

  • Manages implementation of Supplier Quality processes, including supplier approval activities, source selection evaluations, supplier classification designation (Critical, Key and Standard), development and execution of risk assessments and mitigation plans, and supplier quality requirements development and flow-downs.

  • Travel to Supplier as needed to support the program.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience working in an engineering capacity
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Experience developing, collecting, and analyzing metrics.
  • Ability to problem solve
  • Experience with measurement analysis methods.
  • Experience in drawing interpretation to ANSI Y14.5.
  • Ability to obtain a secret security clearance (U.S. citizenship required).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Optical/RF/Electrical background a plus
  • SAP Business System experience
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification
  • Quality Engineering Experience
  • Earned Value Experience
  • Experience working in the aerospace environment
  • Secret Clearance

MAQEA

Salary Range: $68,100 USD - $102,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
