Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Senior Principal / Principal Mechanical Engineer to join the Command and Launch Team. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Final grade level of position will be based on candidate experience level.
What You'll Get To Do:
The selected candidate will be responsible for development, production and deployment of Launch Equipment hardware and systems for each weapon system facility. The selected candidate will work in a dynamic people-focused environment where he/she will interact with users, customers and other engineers.
This role includes the following duties and responsibilities:
•Research, plan, design and develop mechanical/aerospace products for aircraft, spacecraft, launch vehicles, missiles, ground vehicles and associated ground and test equipment.
•Manage subcontractors through program design reviews, testing, and manufacturing
•Develop CAD models and 3D model based drawings using Siemens NX and Team Center.
•Verify specifications and designs through modeling and simulation, test data processing, and performance analysis
•Support all phases of the systems lifecycle including design, drawings, fabrication, test, installation, operation, and maintenance
•Design of components/systems, and preliminary/sizing analysis for both stress and dynamic analysis of aerospace structures.
•Preparation and presentation of reports, briefings, design documents (drawings and specifications) and interface with customers

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. Relocation assistance may be available.
You'll Bring These Qualifications:
• Principal Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 5 years of experience; 3 years with Master's Degree; 0 years with PhD
• Sr. Principal Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 9 years of experience; 7 years with Master's Degree; 4 years with PhD
• Experience performing CAD modeling of mechanical systems using Siemens NX or equivalent tool
• Experience with technical subcontract management
• Experience with rocket motor and/or ordnance design and integration
• Active DoD Secret clearance, granted or re-investigated within last 6 years
These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
• Experience with Team Center (CPLM) and the Product Definition Package (PDP) release process
• Experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
• Experience with requirements management and model-based systems engineering principles
• Proficiency in DOORS, CAMEO, Jira and Confluence
Salary Range: $79,700 USD - $148,100 USD
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
