Northrop Grumman's Space Systems sector is looking for a Deputy Director for the Systems Engineering and Integration IPT in our SDS Division. This position will be located in Roy, Utah and will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Learn more about the GBSD program here . Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force's sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.

What You Will Get To Do:
Be the deputy lead for the GBSD Systems Engineering & Integration IPT, reporting to the SE&I Integrated Product Team Lead. Responsibilities include leadership over the following areas:

  • Systems Engineering and Integration IPT
    • Assist with leadership and management of a 300+ person team
    • Lead and execute special assignments
    • Assist in leadership over workforce, cost/schedule, and technical functions including taking ownership over certain assignments
  • System Integration
    • Responsible for system and segment requirements and verification.
    • Responsible for integration between segments of the weapon system and between the weapon system and external interfaces
    • Responsible for the M&S Verification & Validation (V&V).
    • Act as the system test liaison for the Weapon System.
    • Establish and direct the implementation of integrated Program System Engineering process across the GBSD enterprise, driving consistency and implementation across multiple integrated product teams, national locations and multiple subcontractors.
    • Establish and direct the implementation of model-based digital engineering processes used in the design and development of the GBSD system, at all levels of decomposition.
    • Ensure SE Product quality and consistency and manage auditing and oversight functions, including metrics development and management.
  • Specialty Engineering
    • Responsible to analyze the weapon system design as it relates to multiple specialty engineering disciplines including: Human System Integration, Nuclear Hardness and Survivability, Electromagnetic Effects, System Safety, and Parts, Materials, and Processes
    • Flow down of specialty engineering requirements
  • DevStar
    • Responsible to implement and execute an Integrated Functional Capability approach to weapon system integration
    • Responsible for running the program's agile planning cadence
    • Responsible to orchestrate the software development efforts on the GBSD program including the software development environment and software processes

These positions will have a standard work schedule of 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM with 10 years of progressive engineering experience, or Master's and 8 years' of experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience formally leading teams/and or organizations to achieve a common goal.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance, investigation must have been completed within last 5 years

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ICBM experience
  • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience
  • Prior experience interfacing with prime contractor site leads and USAF leadership personnel
  • Active DoD TS/SCI clearance
  • Experience leading the performance of tasks on schedule, at cost and achieving all requirements as either project lead, integrated program team or cost account manager
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in achieving results through managing people and understanding and management of internal processes and customer/supplier relationships.
  • Strong understanding and broad application of engineering systems (engineering standards, configuration management, material review board, process control, tooling, facilities, software, etc.)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities
  • Demonstrated experience in making sound decisions in uncertain and difficult situations
  • Strong sense of urgency and work ethic in ensuring engineering meets customer and program expectations in a timely and efficient manner

Salary Range: $171,100 USD - $256,700 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
