    Northrop Grumman, Strategic Space Systems Division, has an opening for Manager Engineering Technical Support 2 to join our team in Redondo Beach, CA. You will provide functional management and program support to the Solar Array Manufacturing and Test Area within the Antennas & Products Manufacturing (APM) Department. As a functional leader, you will manage a group of exempt and non-exempt technicians and test conductors. Your responsibilities will include timecard approval, employee performance reviews, facilitating employee growth, special assignments in support of the functional home room, coordinate electromechanical assemblies, integration, hardware/area management, and test support for SSSD programs.

    In order to be successful in this role, you will need to partner with project and functional management. Together you will define and implement a crew sharing approach that satisfies the staffing needs between programs and builds a manufacturing and test operations culture that empowers employees, establishes personal and team accountability, motivates team performance, encourages development, and supports innovation. In this role, you will serve as a primary interface with the program for support to proposal and real-time costing efforts, reviewing cost and schedule activities with the Program Cost Analyst's prior to closing monthly, regular status reports with program management and the customer, as well as support to all major program milestones. In addition to standard functional management role, this position has responsibility for leading Directorate and Department initiatives, including developing and executing digital transformation solutions.

    Affordability and product reuse initiatives, leading metrics-based management for the department, and reviewing and supporting proposals. Additionally, your responsibilities will include ensuring personnel and hardware safety, driving compliance with policies and procedures including security, property management, calibration, training, configuration control, and test conduct.

    Typical Responsibilities Include:

    • Direct Supervision/management of a team of Test Conductors & Technicians from more than one engineering function (https://i.e. mechanical, electrical, etc.)
    • Maintaining the facility space including integration with various support organizations (Manufacturing Engineers, Quality, Vehicle, Antennas, and Systems Engineering) to meet cost, schedule, technical performance, and quality commitments.
    • Working closely with the Department Managers and fellow section managers to define and implement the department strategy
    • Ensures staffing requirements for Business Units are met and manages a comprehensive skills development plan and knowledge sharing for technicians
    • Driving schedule execution of a team of machinists to build high complexity parts for our customers
    • Interfacing and influencing manufacturing engineers, schedulers, industrial engineers, global supply chain, and program management to affect design requirements for producibility
    • Develops and manages process improvement in manufacturing and digital transformation initiatives
    • Managing indirect and capital budgets
    • Ensuring compliance to all Northrop Grumman policies and procedures as applicable for production environments.

    This position's standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelors of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) related field plus 5 years of experience in a technical role OR a Master's of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) related field plus 3 years of experience in a technical role OR High School Diploma/https://G.E.D plus 9 years of experience in a technical role.
    • Proven leadership experience on a project and/or team.
    • Experience in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret Security Clearance or SCI Access.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance OR SCI Access.
    • Previous experience managing manufacturing facility/lab space teams in the aerospace and defense industry.
    • Previous experience managing non-exempt personnel.
    • Demonstrated experience presenting product development, growth or strategic plans to increase manufacturing base.
    • Experience creating reports, trend analysis, policy & procedure updates, and presentations to functional & program leadership using MS Office tools - Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
    • Excellent verbal communication skills with Technician staff, Manufacturing support personnel, Functional management, Program management and related groups.

    Salary Range: $134,600 - $201,800

    Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
