Northrop Grumman's Chief Information Office is seeking a Database Manager to lead the strategy and functional operations of a large team of database managers and professionals. The qualified applicant will lead our internal database team responsible for thousands of databases across the company. The organization collaborates with sectors, business process owners, PMO leaders, and other key stakeholders to build, deploy and maintain this broad portfolio of capabilities based on ongoing and emerging customer needs. They also shape the future direction of database strategies and corresponding technology roadmaps. The successful candidate will have a strong background in database technology, stay up to date on current technology trends and possess effective interpersonal and communication skills, problem solving abilities, and innovative thought leadership.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Meet business needs by managing the organization to consistently deliver quality solutions on time and within budget and scope
  • Continue the ongoing organizational transformation of implementing Agile, DevSecOps, and automation wherever possible
  • Actively drive the development life cycle from requirements analysis, feasibility estimates, design, delivery, documentation, testing, implementation, and support
  • Build and manage multi-disciplined teams and oversee database development processes using industry best practices
  • Design reviews, code reviews, development and mentoring of database managers and professionals
  • Manage multiple tasks and responsibilities in high-pressure environments; excelling at pinpointing and resolving problems in early project stages to avoid cost/time expenses
  • Ensure appropriate security controls are built into all databases
  • Develop, implement, and maintain appropriate technology roadmaps

Basic Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, you must minimally meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 10+ years of relevant professional experience, or Master's degree with 8+ years of relevant experience. In lieu of education, 15+ years of related experience will be considered.
  • Experience developing and leading high performing teams
  • Demonstrated ability to independently prioritize, plan, and execute work tasks in a rapidly changing, fast-paced environment while maintaining high quality results
  • Demonstrated ability to drive a culture of quality and personal accountability through an organization
  • Experience leading in a matrixed environment
  • Experience leading a virtual workforce
  • Working knowledge of Agile methodology including SAFe, Scrum, Kanban.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work equally well in self-managed and team-based Agile/Scrum projects.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:
Candidates with these desired skills will be given preferential consideration:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or relevant discipline
  • Experience with multiple database technology stacks including SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB
  • Knowledge of key technical trends including, but not limited to:
    • SQL versus NoSQL scenarios
    • Cloud native databases and DBaaS (RDS, DynamoDB, Redshift, Azure SQL Database, Atlas)
    • Graph databases
    • In-memory databases
    • Database encryption
  • Relevant Agile certifications (SAFe, SCRUM, etc.)
  • Experience managing supplier relationships and establishing strategic supplier partnerships
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and collaborate with senior level executive leadership.

Salary Range: $155,400 USD - $233,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
