Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is seeking a Manufacturing and Industrial Engineering Manager 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located at the Rancho Carmel Facility in San Diego, CA.

Our expertise is in delivering complex equipment to enable modern battlefields and support aviation missions. Our focus is on the world of avionics, radio, and electronic warfare product application to enable networked communications. As part of the corporation's business focus area on Communications, we are the 'equipment providers.' Our team of communication systems experts is developing next-generation ground radios for land forces, and our Electronic Warfare subject matter experts are creating the next generation of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) countermeasures to keep our soldiers safe when in harm's way.

Job Scope
This position reports to the Operations Digital Transformation Department head and is responsible for the supervision of engineers and other salaried professionals. This department is focused on modernizing and innovating the manufacturing and operations practices of the San Diego campuses to achieve strategic objectives and further differentiate the San Diego campuses from its competitors. Area of work for this position concentrates predominantly in Manufacturing Engineering and Industrial Engineering support for NGC's production of avionics or counter communications equipment. This position has an emphasis on continuous improvement of all internal manufacturing processes surrounding systems integration and test. This position will be responsible for manufacturing processes, capital expenditure projects, and factory planning projects aligned with business strategies. This position will contribute and be responsible for the completion of organizational projects and goals.

Requires interface and coordination with other Production support departments as well as regular interface with multiple levels of management. Basic knowledge of Shop Floor Control Systems is desired. Background in supervising technical disciplines such as Industrial Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering is a plus. Candidate must have proficient writing, presentation, and team skills as well as the ability to conduct presentations to upper management.

Direct Work Involvement
Monitors work operations of exempt and/or non-exempt employees on a daily basis and actively assists or provides direction to subordinates as required. May perform, especially in staff or professional groups, on-going operational tasks of organizational groups.

Policy Involvement
Executes department procedures that typically affect individual employees within own department. Policy management: Administers and executes policies and procedures that typically affect individual subordinate employees.

Basic Qualifications
• 5 Years of relevant experience, plus a BS in a relevant STEM degree; 3 years with a Masters; 0 years with a PHD.

  • Must have management or supervision experience in a non union

• Must have experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• 6 Sigma / Lean professional certification and/or proven experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Project, and Power Point, and relevant CAD/CAM software
• Must be able to obtain/maintain a DOD Secret clearance upon hire

Preferred Qualifications
• MS in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or other related technical field
• Prior experience leading Lean and 6 Sigma initiatives
• Knowledgeable in data analytics, quality metrics, and reporting principles
• Experience in project planning and capital expenditure management
• Experience in quality, root cause corrective actions (RCCAs)
• Experience with Solumina, MES, or other shop floor control system
• Working experience in SAP
• Experience in an electronics manufacturing environment

Salary Range: $118,600 USD - $178,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
