We are looking for you to join our team as a Software Engineering Manager 3 based out of Woodland Hills, CA. As a Software Engineering Manager 3 at Northrop Grumman you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. Through the use of Model-based Engineering, DevSecOps and Agile practices we continue to evolve how we deliver critical national defense products and capabilities for the warfighter. The Embedded GPS/Inertial Modernization (EGI-M) team at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as a Software Engineering Manager 3 based out of Woodland Hills, CA.

The EGI-M team is developing the next generation multi-platform integrated GPS/inertial navigator for the tri-services customer.

What You'll get to Do:

  • Lead a team of software engineers responsible for developing real-time embedded software across the full software lifecycle: specification, design, implementation, integration, debug and maintenance.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of vision and strategies to drive employee engagement; improve hiring, development, training and retention of top talent; balance process compliance against innovation; and reduce bureaucracy.
  • Staff resource planning.
  • Conduct performance and salary reviews.
  • Mentor and challenge team members to develop skills and provide career planning/development paths.
  • Develop and implement strong processes with emphasis on quantitative management and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure organizational compliance with policies/procedures.
  • Drive continuous process improvement and usage of common processes across programs, as appropriate.
  • Provide management guidance to achieve outstanding cost, schedule and technical performance.
  • Responsible for technical guidance and oversight in developing technical and cost proposals.
  • Manage personnel assignments in a highly dynamic and demanding engineering environment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other related STEM discipline and a minimum of 14 years of progressive engineering experience, or a Master's degree in Engineering or other related discipline and a minimum of 12 years of progressive engineering experience.
  • Strong written and oral Communications skills.
  • A proven track record of leading a team of engineers and of establishing strong relationships with other functional organizations and Program Offices.
  • Experienced in metrics based cost estimating and earned value management system (EVMS).
  • Experience with agile SW development
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in an Engineering discipline.
  • Demonstrated passion for improving employee engagement.
  • Prior experience in embedded navigation SW development.
  • Experience in the development of military airborne electronics.
  • Knowledge of/experience with airworthiness (e.g., DO-178) development processes
  • Working knowledge of model-based engineering methods and tools.
  • Experience leading an agile development team.
  • A current Secret Clearance.

Salary Range: $171,000 USD - $256,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
