Northrop Grumman is seeking highly qualified flight test engineering leaders for a large prototype aircraft program at Edwards AFB, CA. The program is seeking to fill three positions with this requisition; an Air Vehicle Flight Test Engineering Manager and a Mission Systems Flight Test Engineering Manager and a Survivability Test Engineering Manager to lead planning and execution through first flight and the Engineering, Manufacturing, and Development flight test program that will follow. Candidates who apply to this requisition may be considered for either position based on their background and experience. Each manager will lead and provide functional management for a team of 20-30 system test engineers in a group of flight test disciplines. The Air Vehicle disciplines include all aircraft subsystems (fuel, hydraulics, electrical, etc), loads, flutter, handling qualities, etc. The Mission Systems disciplines include avionics, navigation systems, weapons, etc. The Survivability disciplines include low observable and threat system testing. The competitive candidate will possess an extensive aviation engineering and flight test background with strong technical and leadership skills. This position requires strong communication skills to support extensive executive-level interaction and will report to the System Ground and Flight Test Senior Manager. Each manager will collaborate with government and contractor leaders to develop detailed test plans and drive an integrated team approach to problem solving. A thorough understanding of flight test safety planning, test operations, and test reporting is required. This leader will be responsible for developing resource forecasts and achieving cost and schedule performance goals. This position will be located at Edwards AFB, CA with an expectation of 25% travel. Candidate must be willing to work extended shifts, weekends and holidays as required to meet program schedule and objectives.
Basic Qualifications:
• U.S. Citizenship
• A minimum of 9 years of Engineering experience with a Bachelors degree in Science or Engineering (7 years w/ Masters)
• A minimum of 2 years of flight test experience in an engineering or control room role
• Thorough knowledge of flight test safety planning, test operations, and test reporting
• Active DoD Secret clearance
• Ability to obtain and maintain Program Access (PAR) within reasonable time
• Experience with Earned Value Management
Preferred Qualifications:
• Masters degree in an engineering discipline
• Graduate of a recognized test pilot school
• Significant experience in a developmental/operational test maintenance environment
• Experience in a US Air Force Combined Test Force
Salary Range: $130,500 USD - $195,700 USD
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
