    Position summary

    ystems Engineer in Electronic Warfare & Communication (EW/Comm) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals and support the Modeling & Simulation efforts in our Systems Engineering organization. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.

    In this role, you will help shape the future of the sector, the company, and our customers. We work in conjunction with NG's Strategy and BDA organization to evaluate the performance of existing and candidate system designs in operational environments. Our work influences the investment decisions of our leadership and customer program offices. You'll frequently collaborate across functional disciplines, offering a unique opportunity to obtain a broad understanding of many areas or to focus on developing a deep expertise in any one of the relevant fields.

    This position will ask you to work in a small team to conduct research, develop models, and perform analysis of a variety of system types across multiple domains (friendly and adversary; ground, air and space) to develop clean-sheet requirements, refine existing program system requirements, and influence the pursuit of future technologies and capabilities. You will work with air vehicle & subsystem engineers, and program and customer leadership, to recommend candidate designs, and to develop Concepts of Operation (CONOPs) and Tactics, Techniques and Procedures at the system, mission, and campaign levels.

    Additionally, you are responsible for developing new and/or integrating existing system sim frameworks, performance models, algorithms, threat models, command and control models.

    Essential Functions:

    • Simulate real-time operations and develops software that simulates behavior of systems.
    • Develop and integrate advanced graphical user interfaces and visualization tools.
    • Model operational environments, performs trade studies via computer simulation and recommends alternative architectures.
    • Perform operational analysis and mission effectiveness analysis.
    • Create and apply knowledge of tactics, techniques, and procedures to support blue/red kill chains across multiple security environments, advanced programs, architectures, and platforms.
    • Provide blue/red tactics and CONOPS modeling, simulation, and analysis support to accomplish long-term objectives related to program development, execution, and related research and development projects.
    • Develop and translate blue/red CONOPs related tactics into modeled simulation behaviors in mission-level models, such as AFSIM and Suppressor.
    • Perform mission engineering activities to ensure continuity between desired operational capabilities and delivered system performance, through the Systems Engineering "V".
    • Ensure performance capabilities of new systems and architectures are traded against cost and mission requirements; develop mission relevant scenarios; assess operational effectiveness of existing and emerging systems and capabilities in representative operational environments.

    This role can be fulfilled at the Principal or Senior Principal level, based on the qualifications below.

    Basic Qualifications for the Principal ModSim Engineer level:

    • Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of relevant professional / military experience in Systems Engineering OR a master's degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of relevant professional / military experience in Systems Engineering OR a Ph.D. in a STEM discipline with relevant professional / military / academic experience in Systems Engineering

    Basic Qualifications for the Senior Principal ModSim Engineer level:

    • Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline and 9 years of relevant professional / military experience in Systems Engineering OR a master's degree in a STEM discipline and 7 years of relevant professional / military experience in Systems Engineering OR a Ph.D. in a STEM discipline and 4 years of relevant professional / military / academic experience in Systems Engineering

    Basic Qualifications at either ModSim Engineer level:

    • Must have an active DoD Secret security clearance or higher ( with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
    • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) clearance with Special Program Access (PAR/SAP) prior to commencement of employment
    • Must have experience in at least one of the following areas:
    • o Modeling and Simulation of Radars, Missiles, Integrated Air Defense Systems, Air and/or Space platforms
    • o Analysis at the Survivability, Lethality, Vulnerability, Engagement, and/or Mission Level
    • o Electronic Warfare (EW)
    • o Low Observables (LO)
    • o Infrared (IR)/Electro-Optical (EO)/Acoustic
    • o Electronic Attack (EA), Electronic Protection (EP), Electronic Countermeasures

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with system of systems modeling tools: AFSIM, Suppressor, or Brawler.
    • Familiarity with AGILE, MBSE, and/or system architecture.
    • Effective project management skills and good communication.
    • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
    • Excellent communications skills, including the ability to present and brief technical data to all levels of leadership within the organization and U.S. Government.
    • A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD TS security clearance with current or previous Special Program Access (SAP)/SCI.

    Salary Range: $107,300 - $160,900
    Salary Range 2: $133,000 - $199,600

    The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

    Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
