Adaptive Optics Associates - Xinetics (AOA Xinetics), a wholly-owned Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Payload and Ground Systems Division Business Venture, is currently seeking a Principal Contamination Control Engineer to support our team in Devens MA.

AOA Xinetics (AOX) designs, develops, and manufactures precision, advanced optical products and systems such as deformable mirrors, optical systems, adaptive optics control systems and silicon carbide optical structures for the U.S. Government, commercial customers, and U.S. defense prime and second-tier contractors. Markets for these technologies include civilian astronomy and semiconductor capital equipment as well as defense ISR and Directed Energy.
Overview
The contamination control engineer will perform a mix of contamination control and systems engineering work. This will include contamination analysis, development of a contamination control plans across numerous programs from unit level up to integration and test, coordination of contamination control design across in-house team, subcontracts, and NG sectors. In addition, the contamination control engineer will support contamination characterization through in-house capabilities or outside testing services, including sample collection and analysis from cleanrooms and hardware, writing reports, and maintaining cleanliness associated equipment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) with 5 years of related experience.
  • Ability to operate within a multi-disciplined Integrated Product Team.
  • Hands-on experience in contamination control field and materials engineering
  • Understanding of principles and methods for contamination control in clean room environments.
  • Knowledge and experience with Class 100 to Class 100,000 Cleanrooms
  • Ability to provide concurrent support to multiple programs
  • Familiarity with ISO cleanroom requirements and methods of operation
  • Experience with foreign object detection and elimination practices
  • Experience with requirement derivation and verification
  • Experience with Non-Volatile Residue (NVR) and Particle count/characterization
  • Excellent written and oral communication
  • U.S. Citizenship is a bona fide requirement for employment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience writing contamination control plans and implementation
  • Working knowledge of the manufacture of optical components and optical assembly
  • Working knowledge of ASTM and MIL spec. requirements as they pertain to contamination

Working Environment & Physical Demands:

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Flexibility to changing environment.

Salary Range: $92,200 USD - $138,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
