Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Engineer Systems to join our team in Palmdale, CA!

Duties for this position include: Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Independently develop System Safety documents such as the System Safety Program Plan (SSPP), Software System
Safety Program Plan (SwSSPP), Safety Assessments Reports (SAR)
Perform audits and report the effectiveness of the system safety program.
Work in a classified environment to analyze software requirements, capabilities, code, and tests with a safety focus
Generate MIL-STD-882E analysis including Preliminary Hazard Analysis, Functional Hazard Analysis, Subsystem
Hazard Analysis, System Requirements Hazard Analysis, etc.
Develop SW test cases to satisfy safety requirements
Document hazard analysis and test results in a Hazard Tracking System
Cross-IPT coordination to support hazards adjudication
Cognizant of the system design and functions

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelors Degree in a STEM field with 5 years of related experience; OR Master's Degree in a STEM field with 3 years of experience; OR a PhD in a STEM field with 0 years of experience.
• Familiarity with MIL-STD-882E and safety standards
• Active DoD Secret clearance
• Ability to obtain and maintain program access (PAR). This PAR must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Salary Range: $101,400 USD - $152,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
