    We are looking for you to join our team as a Principal Systems Engineer based out of Buffalo, NY. As a Principal Systems Engineer at Northrop Grumman, you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation and where we focus on the development and production of state-of-the-art Simulation Systems solutions.

    What You'll Get to Do:
    The selected candidates will be responsible for technical contributions & leadership for the Systems Engineering, Integration & Test (SEIT) departments Internal Requirements and/or Systems Design, Systems Planning, and Cost Account Manager. This role encompasses Functional team leadership, management, and technical performance. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and presentation skills to interact with internal management, as well as customers. This work being in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing requirements and priorities. The candidate must be able to self-manage the completion of tasks and work within defined budgets.

    Roles & Responsibilities:

    • Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
    • Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal.
    • Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
    • Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
    • Perform verifications at customer locations.
    • Technical point of contact for conducting customer Technical Interface Meetings, System Requirements Reviews, Preliminary and Final Design reviews.

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience
    • Understanding with Electronic Warfare simulation of threat radar systems.
    • Knowledge of radar signal characteristics.
    • Experience performing functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
    • Experience analyzing complex problems and developing solutions.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills for technical audiences.
    • Ability and willingness to travel to domestic and foreign locations up to 15% based upon need.
    • U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance and ability to obtain special access programs.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance with the eligibility to obtain a Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and special access programs.
    • Electronic Warfare (EW), or EW Threat experience
    • Experience with DOORS requirements management tool.
    • Experience with Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) concepts and tools (Cameo and Rhapsody).
    • Experience in an integration and test environment for complex electronic systems evaluation
    • Experience with design reviews.
    • Experience in development and earned value management of cost accounts and schedules as related to Systems Engineering tasks
    • Expertise using various types of RF test equipment, such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes and time-domain analyzers to measure and verify interpulse and intrapulse modulations, radar scan patterns.

    Salary Range: $97,500 - $146,300

    The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

    Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
