    Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGPS) seeks to fill a Principal Systems Engineer in the Payload and Ground Systems Division Engineering organization supporting Integrated National Systems (INS) Business Unit (BU) to support a Ground program. This position can be filled at our Morrisville, NC, Fairfax, VA, or Linthicum, MD offices**.**

    What you'll get to do?
    As a Systems Engineer on this team, you will support a team of engineers to define, develop, decompose, analyze, verify, and validate requirements for a Ground Segment. In this role, you will be supporting program leadership and the customer to define and maintain the technical baseline. Ultimately, you will support the program through maturity and milestones to achieve the mission, ensuring everything is synchronized.

    This work will span command and control, mission planning and scheduling, mission processing, and system infrastructure. We have anticipated future growth to deliver additional ground capabilities.

    This role is for a SEIT engineer familiar with Ground Systems to support the program through CDR, development, integration, test, and verification/validation.

    The successful candidate will have broad Systems Engineering lifecycle knowledge, with the ability to digest changes and present them to the technical and management teams in concise briefings. The candidate is expected to operate independently with some oversight in a dynamic environment, to be highly self-motivated, reporting information to IPT leads, and the customer. The individual is expected to handle diverse assignments with efficiency, finding unique solutions and working in a very collaborative and fast paced environment that continues to grow. Experience with system modeling is preferred.

    Basic Qualifications for Principal Systems Engineer:

    • 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline; 3 years of relevant experience with a Masters' degree; 0 years of experience with a PhD
    • Working knowledge of systems engineering principles and processes
    • Demonstrated experience quickly learning new concepts and approaches
    • Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility and willing to submit to a polygraph
    • Clearance crossover and TS/SCI are required prior to start date.
    • System engineering experience with developing requirements and interfaces for complex systems
    • Experience interpreting requirements and evaluating software and hardware designs for compliance.
    • Experience with the Agile Methodology
    • Experience with Automated test tools (for example: Cucumber, Behave, Eggplant, Selenium, or Cypress)
    • Experience with test management tools and issue tracking systems

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with Agile and the Atlassian tool suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket etc.)
      Knowledge of SDLC
      Software development experience
      Experience with Cameo and MBSE
      Experience with DevOps methodologies and experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipeline
      Knowledge of or experience with scripting languages
      Knowledge of or experience with microservice architecture
      Experience performing cloud-based design, architecture, integration, and test of software systems using Amazon Web Services (AWS)
      Strong understanding of software testing principles and methodologies

    Salary Range: $95,100 - $157,000

    Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
