Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Software Engineer / Sr Principal Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. Position is located in Melbourne, Florida.

Essential Functions:
Exciting position offers the opportunity to directly create, implement and evaluate software for displays in a cockpit environment. Not your average sustainment role! Come in from the beginning where the architecture and framework are being developed from the ground-up!

The Software Engineer will develop, modify and maintain customized or standardized applications using software engineering best practices and standards, and participate in the full life-cycle of software development, to include requirements development, modeling and design, application development, unit to CSCI testing, integration, formal system testing, release, installation, and maintenance. The candidate will interface on occasion with the customer and excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills are essential.

Basic Qualifications
This requisition may be filled at either a Principal Systems Engineer level or Sr Principal Systems Engineer level
Basic Qualifications for a Principal Software Engineer:

• Bachelor's Degree with 5 years of software engineering experience OR a Master's Degree and 3 years of software engineering experience
• Experience developing software/writing code in C/C++ and/or Java
• At minimum, an active DoD Secret level clearance is required to apply and to start the role, with the ability to obtain and maintain program access within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Basic Qualifications for a Sr Principal Software Engineer:

• Bachelor's Degree with 9 years of software engineering experience OR a Master's Degree and 7 years of software engineering experience
• Experience developing software/writing code in C/C++ and/or Java
• At minimum, an active DoD Secret level clearance is required to apply and to start the role, with the ability to obtain and maintain program access within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in aeronautical displays development
• Experience in OpenGL
• Knowledge of Linux systems with basic commands
• Experience with Vehicle management software or equivalent VXWORKS
• Experience with Software tools like: Eclipse, Git, Rhapsody, DOORS, Atlassian Tools (Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence, Crucible, Bamboo)
• Experience with Agile development.
• Experience with Google Test
• Experience with scripting in Python and Bash
• Experience developing software for safety critical embedded systems
• Experience integrating and debugging software on hardware
• Familiarity with MIL-STD-1553
• Familiarity with software requirements tools such as DOORS and Rational Rhapsody

Salary Range: $87,600 USD - $131,400 USD
Salary Range 2: $108,600 USD - $163,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
