Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is hiring Manufacturing Engineers to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals located in rural Iuka, MS. The assignment may include one or more projects including hand layup, fiber placement, assembly, machining, painting, and structural testing of composite parts. Iuka currently produces structures for Atlas and Antares rockets, F-35 fighter jets, and other high end related parts. Some of our work requires Secret Clearance. Our Iuka facility employs about 200 people across Engineering, Operations, Quality, and Support Services. The work we do impacts our national security and supports human space exploration. Responsibilities include the following:

  • Develop and maintain detailed work instructions for assigned products/processes
  • Provide day to day support of manufacturing personnel of composite structures
  • Resolve production issues in processes by working closely with manufacturing personnel
  • Support root cause and corrective action
  • Be part of an Integrated Product Team

Our teams are broken out by program and product families. You will be working within your team to meet our customer needs and deliver quality products in a timely manner. This position is for a day shift (Monday to Friday), and may require limited off hour support. Travel is estimated to be less than 10% and within the US, typically to support our customers. This position may be filled at a Principal or Senior Principal Engineer level depending on the qualifications below.

Principal Engineer

  • Bachelors and 5+ years of engineering work experience, or a Masters degree and 3+ years of engineering work experience. Note: an additional 4 years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications
  • Understanding of root cause & corrective action processes and techniques
  • Experience with process engineering or manufacturing engineering
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance and Special Program Access

Sr. Principal Engineer

  • Bachelors and 9+ years of engineering work experience, or a Masters degree and 7+ years of engineering work experience. Note: an additional 4 years of relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications
  • Understanding of root cause & corrective action processes and techniques
  • Experience with process engineering or manufacturing engineering
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance and Special Program Access

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Composites knowledge (i.e. hand layup, automated layup, cure experience, and/or machining experience)Understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Functional knowledge of Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA)
  • Experience in working with aerospace specifications and requirements
  • Experience authoring, modifying and auditing work procedures
  • Able to navigate Catia V5 and/or NX

Salary Range: $75,400 USD - $113,200 USD
Salary Range 2: $93,500 USD - $140,300 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
