We are looking for you to join our team as a Senior PNT Systems Architect based out of Woodland Hills, CA. As a Senior PNT Systems Architect at Northrop Grumman you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. Through the use of Model-based Engineering, DevSecOps and Agile practices we continue to evolve how we deliver critical national defense products and capabilities for the warfighter. What You'll get to Do:

The Future Positioning Navigation Timing Systems (FPNTS) team at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for a senior technical leader to join our team as an Advanced PNT Systems Architect. This person will provide technical leadership of our navigation research and development portfolio for military applications and is based out of Woodland Hills, CA.

  • Shape technology strategy and lead roadmap development for the positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) research and development operating unit as well as proposal and capture strategy for critical programs.
  • Work in close collaboration with Government R&D organizations such as DARPA, AFRL, ONR, and Army labs to develop advanced navigation and timing technologies.
  • Work with a team of navigation and timing experts in a team-based collaborative environment dedicated to advancing the state of the art
  • Apply your research and development skills to architect real-world products and capabilities well beyond purely academic or theoretical
  • Work with leading-edge inertial navigation instruments and quantum sensors to re-imagine the future of navigation, timing, and distributed sensing.
  • Work with leading-edge Software Defined Radio (SDR) systems for GPS, GNSS, and other cooperative signals along with advanced signal processing techniques to define new product lines
  • Work with leading-edge navigation warfare (NavWar) systems, techniques, algorithms, and software to enhance mission success in contested environments.
  • Shape next generation mission applications like autonomous navigation, distributed sensing, alternative sensing and sensor fusion, proliferated low earth orbit (pLEO) space systems, model-based system engineering, cloud-based software as a service, and swarming vehicles.
  • Present your ideas to internal and external groups; lead proposal activities; and represent Northrop Grumman at technical conferences and working groups.

Basic Qualifications:

  • MS in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or STEM related discipline with 18 years of relevant experience, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or STEM related discipline with 15 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated track record of innovation and accomplishment in the field of navigation and timing with deep knowledge of relevant sensors and systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles of navigation, including inertial navigation, aided navigation, and Kalman filtering.
  • Demonstrated ability to think and act strategically as well as to build long range strategic plans
  • Extensive experience with business strategy as well as DoD program execution
  • Must be able to lead teams and work effectively in a collaborative team environment
  • Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or STEM related discipline with 15 years of directly related experience.

  • Recognized experience with timekeeping systems (e.g. oscillators, atomic frequency standards, frequency metrology).

  • Recognized experience with GPS and GNSS receiver design and applications

  • Recognized experience with GPS anti-jam systems and techniques

  • Recognized experience with integrated RF systems (e.g. comms, electronic warfare).

  • Experience working Government-funded R&D programs.

  • Security clearance with current background investigation.

  • A successful candidate will be comfortable with loosely-defined problems, have a demonstrated ability to think creatively, and draw upon a variety of sources for ideas and solutions.

  • Self-motivated and independently able to develop innovative approaches to diverse technical challenges and see them through to realization

Salary Range: $188,300 USD - $282,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
