    Northrop Grumman's Space Systems sector is seeking a Systems Engineer/Principal Systems Engineer on the Command and Launch Team. This position is in our Strategic Deterrent Systems Division to execute the Engineering and Manufacturing Development phase of the Sentinel (GBSD) program in support of the United States Air Force. Learn more about the Sentinel program here . This position will be located on campus in Roy, UT and may require on-site support at product manufacturing and integration sites.

    What you will get to do:
    The qualified candidate will work within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment, interfacing with IPT leadership, suppliers, customers, and other technical disciplines to engineer design solutions to challenging problems through the development of Product Definition Packages (PDP). PDPs consists of 2D drawings and 3D models (NX), various design analyses/assessments (structural/thermal), bill of materials and parts lists (Siemens Capital and Xpedition), and requirements (DOORS).

    Roles and Responsibilities:

    • Support the PDP lead in designing electrical equipment, components, products, and systems.
    • Drive the design and development of the electrical portion of the System Integration owned the PDPs.
    • Implement program processes and engineering board approval processes for developed PDPs.
    • Deliver required PDPs on time to meet program objectives.
    • Integrate System Integration PDPs with the various element teams to proactively eliminate disconnects and design clashes.
    • Identify gaps and holes within the design and/or requirements and provide a path froward for resolution that is cost effective, innovative, and has minimal impact to others while filling the gap/hole.
    • Ensure the developed PDPs meet the design requirements from the various element/configured item specifications.
    • Determine technical solution in accordance with product specifications and recommend actions to representatives for coordinated product solution.
    • Support digital transformation initiatives relating to PDP development and release.

    This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Systems Engineer : bachelor's degree with at least 2 years of related engineering experience, 0 years with a master's degree.
    • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance
    • Ability to obtain special access (SAP) clearance.
    • 1 year of experience of systems engineering principles and processes
    • Ability to work closely with multiple functional organizations (Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Field Operations, etc.).
    • 1 year of proven experience reading and interpreting technical drawings
    • 1 year of experience with design and fabrication techniques for structural details, assemblies, and installations
    • 1 year of proven knowledge of design tools including TeamCenter/NX
    • Principal Systems Engineer : bachelor's degree with at least 5 years of related engineering experience, 3 years with a master's degree.
    • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance
    • Ability to obtain special access (SAP) clearance.
    • 1 year of experience of systems engineering principles and processes
    • Ability to work closely with multiple functional organizations (Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Field Operations, etc.).
    • 1 year of proven experience reading and interpreting technical drawings
    • 1 year of experience with design and fabrication techniques for structural details, assemblies, and installations
    • 1 year of proven knowledge of design tools including TeamCenter/NX

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Active Secret Security Clearance or higher
    • Proven understanding of the Build to Package development and release processes
    • Knowledge of specifications and processes as they relate to engineering model-based definition.
    • 3 years of experience with Siemens Capital or other cable harness design tool suites
    • 3 years of experience with cable routing within 3D model space
    • 3 years of experience of product development lifecycle
    • 3 years of experience with the ASME https://Y14.x suite of engineering drawing standards
    • 3 years of experience in creating a PDP or PDP like product
    • ICBM Experience
    • Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience
    • Strong oral and written communication skills, including demonstrated experience with high value customer presentations, with ability to focus on multiple projects with competing priorities.
    • Demonstrated experience in making sound decisions in uncertain and difficult situations.
    • Strong sense of urgency and work ethic in ensuring engineering meets customer and program expectations in a timely and efficient manner.
    • Experience in leading/supporting a development engineering team.
    • Demonstrated experience working with customers to ensure project success.
    • Experience in performing in an Agile environment and knowledge/understanding of JIRA.

    Salary Range: $73,400 - $110,000
    Salary Range 2: $90,400 - $135,600

    Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
