The Payload and Ground Systems organization within the Northrop Grumman Space Systems pushes the boundaries of innovation, redefines engineering capabilities, and drives advances in various sciences. Our team is chartered with providing the skills, innovative technologies to develop, design, produce and sustain optimized product lines across the sector while providing a decisive advantage to the warfighter. We are seeking Software Engineers to join our diverse and talented engineering organization in support of our National Defense as part of the Deep Space Advanced Radar Capability (DARC) Program. Join an exciting and new program as we embark to solve complex and novel engineering challenges.
As a Software Engineer you will be responsible for developing the software critical to the operation of these advanced radars. Using Agile principles, you will provide highly capable software and implement an open, modular, maintainable baseline based upon COTS, GOTS, and custom software. Successful candidates should have experience developing software for complex radar systems. In addition, candidates must possess strong problem-solving skills and be able to work collaboratively with experienced engineering and program management teams to meet our customer's needs.

Minimal travel is expected. This position will be based in our Fairfax, Virginia facility.
This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Software Engineer: 2 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline; 0 years of relevant experience with a Masters' degree; or 5 years of exp in lieu of degree.
  • Principal Software Engineer: 5 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM discipline; 3 years of relevant experience with a Masters' degree; or 9 years of exp in lieu of degree.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance
  • Experience with sensor system management and task distribution software development
  • Experience with the development of SOA based software services and micro services
  • Experience with Java and/or C++
  • Experience with Agile processes

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active DoD Secret clearance
  • Experience with Cloud development
  • Experience with Apache Nifi
  • Experience with RF systems, calibration, radar waveforms, Electronic Attack (EA), or Electronic Protection (EP)
  • Experience with Atlassian Tool Suite including Jira

Salary Range: $82,400 USD - $123,600 USD
Salary Range 2: $101,400 USD - $152,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
